    We treat revolutions and coup attempts as if we had absolutely nothing to do with them. We externalize political events as something wholly distinct from our private lives and choices. Sad to say, that is so incorrect. If we are truly a democracy, rebellions should win only with our support or be doomed to lose without it. But now we prefer to be mere spectators, a democracy of onlookers who sit on the sidelines waiting for the smoke to clear … and to cheer on the victor. Faced with a historical moment, we hedged our bets, and chose to wager not on the basis of who’s right and who’s wrong, but rather on the basis of whose side has more guns and tanks.

    For that very reason, the Arroyo administration must kid itself not and depict its Peninsula triumph as a validation of its reign of greed. The mass of Filipinos chastised Lim and Trillanes not because they tried to oust Arroyo. Filipinos were disappointed because they failed. Filipinos stayed away from the Peninsula not because they loved Arroyo but because they had many fears if the coup won, and even more fears if it failed. It was the skeptical cost-benefit calculus of people too often used and abused in the past. But, as the saying goes, “Beware the fury of the patient man.”

    Are you referring to Trillanes? As what we have seen, patience is not one of his attributes.

    ~ ur saying we shud be involved..

    If we are truly a democracy, rebellions should win only with our support or be doomed to lose without it.
    ~ statement supporting the abovementioned

    CONTRADICTING POINT

    ~ tot u say kita magbuot? pipol's verdict is no support but why mn wn we do dat moingon ka na nipili mi sa daghan ug tanks.. so meaning our support for non-rebellion aint democratic? com'n

    CONCLUSION ON YOUR STAND:

    just because u didnt get the result u wantd u wud say its being mere spectator & onlookers till the result is their. its as if "baling-bing"ang filipino nd naghuwat ra kinsa makadaog dn we place our bet..

    I tell u these THE FILIPINO made a choice and they choose not to support his cause.. FILIPINOS are sick tired of TYRANTs ruling and TYRANTs in the making too...

    @balatucan:

    We can't afford to take the risk of giving Trillanes a chance. First of all, he has not proven himself as a true leader, all his coups have failed. What will be the excuse now? Because the people didn't support? LOL. The people never saw anything noble about what Trillanes did. The people share Trillanes' ideologies but not his methods. Violence or force will never be the answer and no matter how many times Trillanes will try on his "methods", he'll get the same result over and over again. Plain and simple, PGMA is way better and intelligent than him, he must do better than what he's been doing and in that way, maybe he'll get the people's support.

    Second, assuming that Trillanes will finally stage a successful coup, then what's next? Most of the people never knew what are Trillanes' gameplan is. Staging a coup is all what he has been doing and that's not what the people want. People want to feel some hope, something good to look forward in the future. What Trillanes has been doing is trying to convince people that there's hope yet never give any investment or even promises for the future. Everything will be hanging.

    The people are the key to a successful revolt. Pulling off stunts on resorts and hotels won't do any good. We've seen it in the previous people powers.

    If he's going to stage a successful coup, then he better prove it to the people that he's a worthy leader. People will follow once they see something good, not by telling the people how noble are Trillanes' ideologies because it's never seen in his actions. Get to the hearts of the people, not their minds. Let Trillanes do some action and I mean productive and sensible action.
