it's just like saying that in a very efficient government, why still have NGO's? i would like to think so that people will have an alternative as well as a support group JUST IN CASE...

anyway, there is no guarantee that a company will ALWAYS be fair. so it's good that people are aware that they have some group to run to if things don't go well anymore. where will the employees go? DOLE? NLRC? against a multinational or a foreign firm?Â* the next thing you know the directors of these agencies are eating lunch with the BPO CEO's. The problem with companies with UNION is that thier members have become complacent. Not really improving themselves to make themselves more employable or more productive. Why should they?

TRUE, the intentions of forming a UNION is noble. Unfortunately, well at least in this country IT'S EXECUTION IS DEEPLY FLAWED. As they say, ang UNION sa PILIPINAS is just another business. Sorry ha? Pero that's the truth.

Short of forming a union why not form LMC's? Labor Managament Council/Committee. The formation of a UNION, specially if at present it is unjustified (meaning okay ang labor-management relations) just forms a rift between MANAGEMENT and LABOR? Why do that unnecessarily? Thier presence just breeds DISTRUST between both parties.

I'm speaking from experience, I work for a conglomerate with 40++ companies under it. The companies with the best benefits are those without any UNIONS. Katong naa'y UNION, sorry na lang kung unsa'y na agree-han sa negotiations mao ra gyuy ihatag. Katong sa company nga wla'y UNION, okay kaayo benefits because management puts trust in thier employees and vice versa.

my employer company doesn't have a union...it's a bad thing bec. most of the management decisions are final and our comments/opinions are unheard of, most of the time...in fairness, though some decisions are opened for comments before they finalize it BUT in the end it's THEIR decision that matters...the whole forum/meeting with the employees thing (just to gather our comments) is purely a hoax!! sa binsaya..LUTO NA DAAN!!! so what's the use?!!! i just hope some of my co-employees would be brave enough the start a union...i am incapable yet bec. I have been working for that company for 2 yrs. now and spent much of my time in oversea assignment...someone more capable and been with the company for SOME yrs and knows the management to well must start it..i do hope...or yet hope for the company to be more fair and true....

resigning is not the solution..i love my company and the work (though sometimes boring)...i have invested 2 yrs. of it and forgetting my true aspiration..i graduated and managed to have license in acctg and yet i work for an eng'g firm...much better for the company to heed our voices..what i do is ignore it (bec. there's nothing i can do) and focus on gaining work experience....some better company is probably just out there waiting for me(?!)

I agree... if the company hasn't done anything unlawful, there not much you can do about it. Kong gipahibaw na ninyo sila onya wala gihapon action mao na'y gitawag nako og LBM (Look for Better Management). Kay as much as we want that the company will look after us, kong wala sila'y pagbati, ang ila ra jud ihatag kay kanang butang nga gisulti sa balaod.

Nganong dili man option ang mo resign? Two years pa man diay ka diha. If you have learned enough transferable skills then that could be applied to other industries or functions, so there shouldn't be a problem. You cannot blame the company you're working for. In the first place, choice nimo mo work dha, therefore kung dli na nimo like it's your choice to stay or not and dance to the music, whatever the tune will be.

TRUE, but in reality that is not feasible.Â* In our country, when you are already 30-35 years old, it's harder to find a "normal/regular" job and even more impossible beyond those age because most jobs are production or labor intensive because we are a 3rd world country and not everybody in this country has the ability or resources to have their own business.Â* Being "perennially employable" again, in this country is only applicable to CEO's, consultants or highly specialized jobs, which are only a few in the entire Philippine working community.Â* That is why a lot of 40 something years old in our country would rather work as caregivers or constant companions abroad.

Looking at this angle is very realistic in a perfect world but in this side of the globe, the people's options and alternatives are very limited which is by the way the reason why there is a huge gap between the rich and the poor.

it is the truth but also a generalization.Â* it's just like saying di na lang ta mo salig sa pulis kay daghan skalawags.

first, a lot of our fellowmen are ignorant about the law and are "less educated".Â* second, these companies knows their way "around" the law and still make their policies legal.Â* it is when these so called circumvented legal policies are imposed and the naive worker feels that what the company is doing is no longer right that creates friction.Â* this happens everyday in our country.Â* it is for these reasons why foreign firms love it here. ...because they are VIP's and treated like royalty and they can abuse and exploit.

...and how can a Manager and an HR personnel say that it is ILLEGAL to put up unions in BPO/PEZA companies, when the truth is that employees can?! That is an outright LIE and is misleading, to say the least, the employees probably because most are just young adolecents and are not so keen on these things.

In reiteration, why do the American people who are mostly and generally Pro-Union and a supposedly American Firm in our country is all of a sudden Anti-Union?Â* If someone can give me a logical and objective answer to this one then I rest my case.

If someone would ask me then my reply would simply be because our government are suck-ups and the people are pushovers.

I am not anti-foregin firms per se as long as the law applies to everybody, local or foreign and no special treatment or provisions are extended to them.Â* I am also not against U.S. bases as long as they respect our country and not dump their toxic wastes here just like what they did in Subic & Clark.Â* It's really that simple.
