It is not surprising since I learned from my History class that their were 5 leaders in the Third Servile War--Spartacus, Oenomaus, Crixus, Gannicus, and some guy that I haven't seen in the series.

^historically speaking there were several bands of slaves who fought against the Romans, but the most organized were the ones affiliated to Spartacus. Historians can't determine if the 5 mentioned gladiators were leaders or subordinates to the others--but it is agreed that Spartacus was the most prominent and considered the de facto leader.
