[ No one really dies. ]

    1 Corinthians 15

21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.

[ Everyone is "resurrected" after material death. ]

44 ... If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
49 And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.

[ We all have souls (body of the spirit), and it resembles the material the body. ]

35 But someone may ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?" 36 How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. 37 When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. 38 But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.

[ Seed = the material body (that has to die). ]

48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven.

[ Material body is only for the earth. Soul (body of the spirit) is for the afterlife. ]

    42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable;
50 I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

[ What gets "resurrected," in effect, is the imperishable soul (body of the spirit), which leaves the material body behind (it cannot bring it where it does). ]

51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

[ No sleep = no waiting for last judgment. In a flash = everyone gets "resurrected" right after death. Last trumpet will sound = material death. We will be changed = aware of one's self no longer as a material body but, as a soul (spiritual body). ]

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

for me...the book always said there is life after death....
and the book that i just read said:

earth is just our tent...our real home is heaven..
just like when were going to school.
after we graduated her on earth means
when we serve our purpose..there is life
waiting for us in the other side...
and the judgement is...if we could answer the
question then we could go either heaven or hell?

the book is about purpose driven life....

i still have a doubt in it,but it makes think a lot about it...hmmmm ?

Thanks amingb bai, nice point ang imong gi-raise. For context (mas maklaro ang reason ngano gisulti), quote nato usab ang verse with the others:

John 3 - 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

The sentence is in the past tense, meaning before Jesus, no one can (yet) go to heaven. Only after his death at the cross (lifted as the bronze snake by Moses) was the gap bridged.

So ug ma resurrected ta dayon after death asa man ad2 ang atoang Spiritual Body ?
I think no one really loses their freewill. You go where your heart tells you, whether it be nearer to God or farther from Him. My definition of heaven is wherever God is - in the heart or a place where like people who love Him stay together.

For the literal answer, I believe its not far. =) Those who find themselves and their earthly attachments more important than God would be down there (very intimate with the world), and those who find God more important would be up there, detached from the world.

If one asks one's heart, it makes sense if people who just died would be aided in their adjustment to the afterlife. I think this state of being a beginner in the afterlife would be a match to the concept of "purgatory." It looks more like a period of adjustment than a place.

You have to understand that the soul is an energy form.

It can never be affected by other things.

That is the nature of energy.

Just like electricity- you can never burn electricity.

If you die, even if your soul sits on a lake of fire --that fire willl never hurt your soul.
Because your soul is an energy form.

Once you understand this concept, you will think again about the christian's concept of heaven and hell.

^energy can not be created or destroyed, first law of thermodynamics.

Once you understand this concept, you will think again about the christian's concept of heaven and hell
    which is pointless.

I don't know which part is pointless though.

But Heaven and Hell concept is not acceptable for me.

That is why I believe more in the reincarnation of soul. It is closer to the law of conservation of energy.

^i find salvation talks as marketing schemes...sure if you dont buy that, threats of hell fire and torture...scare tactics. (christian concept) thats why i find it pointless, imo.

But Heaven and Hell concept is not acceptable for me.
    good for you.
i see you're quite aquinted to eastern philosophy.

as for me, i really dont care if there is a next life or not...one thing is REAL to me, and its this life.

    I respect your opinion, sir.

But what if I tell you that your soul has a purpose on this life?
What if I tell you that you have a mission in this life?

We just have to understand the real concepts regarding life, soul and God.

But, for us to understand our purpose in life,
and to live the right way,
we have to unlearn what the old people taught us before.
