Sarcasm and arrogance are two different things. If one is called arrogant because they moderate someone ... because they are in the position to tell someone contrary to what someone else thinks ... then arrogant I am. If one is arrogant because he stands on firm ground and argues that ground, then anyone with a firm opinions must be arrogant. People need to redefine arrogance and see where it really fits. Sarcasm is on a different caboose as that of arrogance. One will only take offense from sarcasm if they do not understand it because they are incapable of understanding it or because of ammm ... errr ... arrogance. Hence heated arguments and "unwanted impression" will ensue. To think that this can be avoided in a forum where only the most firm believer in their stand will prevail is foolish.

while i am not a moderator on this forum, i agree that since they are not being paid to moderate they have very little time to send erring members PMs to notify them that their thread have been locked, however, if you take time to read some of these moderators do post on the thread itself the reasons why they took such action. members should learn not to take things too personal, some have even gone to the point of asking the moderator's previous leadership experience...tsk tsk tsk.

badges, ranks and affiliations need not be flashed in this forum. in fact, i believe that this forum should not have any room for that.

on the other hand, moderators should also treat the members with respect. i know that this maybe hard at times, but that is part of what you agreed on when you took the responsibility. maybe some moderators have forgotten that they too were once members before they volunteered. while you do not have the obligation to be nice, you do have obligation to be patient and treat members with respect.

a leader should earn the respect of its members not demand it.

guys, we should give these moderators some slack, it's not easy dealing with members who complain about the smallest of things. they have somehow done a good job of protecting the forum from nuisance posts and annoying members.

but you can't deny that you can always say things in a nicer way so as to avoid arguments or misunderstandings, right?

i know it's not the mod's duty to be nice to everyone but being considerate about their feelings is something else.

But when has any mod ever on purpose try to hurt anyone's feelings? Do we run around insulting members? Is sarcasm something to cry about? Did we call people names? Do we go out of our way to harass the users as many users do to the mods? Are our arguments directed at the person? or are they directed at the posts of the person? Are we hurting anyone's feelings because we disagree? and many times will disagree strongly? Should we refrain from voicing our opinions just because they might somehow hurt someone (should anyone voice their opinion?)? Are these personal views of the different moderators connected in any way with how we moderate? How many mods have used their status to turn a discussion in their favor? It's a mods duty to moderate. It's human duty to speak out. I see no conflict between the two. If you don't agree with a mod's point of view ... then so be it ... that has nothing to do with how we moderate. People seem to have a script on how moderators should behave. I suggest a re-write of that script. It doesn't apply in istorya nor does it apply anywhere else on any forum in the internet. istorya is not the only place that I moderate in ... but yet istorya is the only place where people cannot be told one way or the other that they are wrong and instead be blasted as arrogant, hilas, and many other colorful adjectives. Members should be glad that BeoR has the patience to allow this kind of discussion ... anywhere else ... the moderator's decision is final. It's very easy to accept that you have been moderated because it broke the rules and ethics of istorya ... yet many don't. That is a trait to be desired in a time of political revolution ... but not in a forum where only two things are paramount ... the rules and the users.

Why we should hate the moderator? I been like that too before but as I realized that moderators are just doing their jobs............. All we have to do na lang is understand their situation............... may be they so so pressure the growing topics that is found in the istorya.......

Escalation nalang dapat. ayaw i.announce sa tanan kung naa kay gikalagutan kay dili na civilized paminawn. let's all be civilized. we all have our free will and convictions but it shouldn't be used as an excuse to act like an ogre.

anyways, dili ingn kng walay mga mod, wala ang istorya... its the members that makes istorya sikat! i can imagine a forum without moderators....chaos.... but i can never imagine a forum without posters, and only moderators....plain boring.

try not posting for a decade... that way, we can test your theory.

i had once posted a topic on other forum and it was locked my a certain moderator..

guys if you have read it.. its vern hu actually answered the topic posted by one of the members pertaining to the type of discussion we should be discussing on that specific forum.. one of the moderators is on the side of the poster of the topic.. one is on my side..(vern)

cant u see? if moderators find that what ur posting is ok.. the mods will take ur side.. and even argue with other moderators who didnt find ur post amusing or worth reading..

at first i was really hurt about it.. why the topic was locked specially that i didnt cross any rules on the forum.. but later i then understand

the moderators are just doing what they think that is right for all of us.. we should be thankful enough that they are there to at least warn us that what where doing is beyond borders already...

not all things will be posted on the rules.. i guess we should be mature enough.. this is a free site.. people can drop by and read our post.. if they'll like it they'll join.. but do you think after reading all this stuff nakakuha pa kaha ta ug member bag o?
