.... as i read comments from antagonists of vigilantism, it seems like you treat the issue as if vigilantism is out of hand. As if Cebu City is now a warzone. Are the killings that rampant ?? It's only one or two dead per month, at least, and those who died are criminals.
... Doing a little evil for the greater good is hopeless?? HERE Give me a break jugs, stay in touch with reality, this is not the pocket books where everything is perfect and great leaders have been doing that kind of stuff since ancient times. Stop using the word naive to the anti-V's, it's you who's naive.

am not saying it's all good but ---------bisan ug mag survey pa- majority of people here in the city would say yes to the vigilantes ! di man pabadlong- maau pa patyon nalang kesa cge ug balik2x sa prisohan. pakan-on pa. then when they're released, they do it all over again, vicious cycle kaau. kapoy baya modakop ani nila. kamo bay makawatan, mapusilan, ma snatchan, malugos ug uban pa- lalim ba ?

Vigilatism shows the incompetence of our law enforcement..and the government as a whole..
out of the number of victims that this V's took?? my question is how many are those who came from the rich families..
the obvious trend is is theyre not only killing criminals but theyre just going after those criminals thats hardly having an income..
And if this vigilantes is really serious in bringing down bad elements, nganong mga pobre ra man ilang victims...??

malooy ko og hunahuna nga gipamatay sila atubangan sa ilang pamilya, atobangan sa ilang ginikanan, samtang ga trabaho..
what they did is act of survival, our life here is difficult, and theyre just trying to survive even to the point of biting the bullet..
some snatchers really dont do it for thrill, they do it para naa sad silay mapa kaon sa ilang pamilya.. some robbers, after robbing a bank try to relocate and start a new life using their loot as "pera para bagong buhay"..

What they did might be justifiable, but I dont think its fair....

Who says it's fair? Nothing is fair in this world- NOTHING ! You can never justify stealing to feed your family ! Or even to start a new life !
What about fairness for the criminals' victims ?
So if these deadbeats are killed by viigilantes - it's also not fair. The only fairness I see is we're all not exempted from death- sooner or later- we all have to die. And that's the end of it. And that's fair

    You are smart!

Nothing is fair in life. Even at birth, during life or even upon death. It has never been nor will be.

Accept it. Some people are more equal than others. That is the phenomenology of mundane realities.

    Grin and bear it!

.. raddi, you're looking at the wrong direction. Your pity should go to the victims of the snatchers and robbers. You might have forgetten the fact that the victims of criminals also have families to feed but the only difference is that they are WORKING HARD for it. The way I read your statement especially this line some snatchers really dont do it for thrill, they do it para naa sad silay mapa kaon sa ilang pamilya.. some robbers, after robbing a bank try to relocate and start a new life using their loot as "pera para bagong buhay"..... it seems like you're commeding these criminals. These people want an EASY WAY OUT OF POVERTY. Predators. Feeding off people who EARNS AN HONEST LIVING. There are many ways to get lift out of poverty, they just don't know where to look and are damn lazy. Just look around colon area, the sidewalk vendors, the water-vendor, the cigarette-vendors.... these are people living in poverty but they chose not to be criminals, they chose to work hard.....

Well, the point is NOT that we should justify crime. We should NOT do so. The point is that vigilantism is ALSO A CRIME. And the crime of PREMEDITATED MURDER is far worse than petty thievery.

Aww gee, resorting to name calling when you are proven wrong just shows you NEVER had a rational argument (or mindset) to begin with. Such mindlessness just won't fly.

Those who desperately try to justify vigilantism using such irrational arguments do not realize that their thinking is exactly the kind of mindset that the CRIMINALS they hate so much use to justify their crimes. Many petty thieves, for example, justify their crimes on the grounds that they are doing a "little evil" (snatching cellphones, for example) for a "greater good" (such as feeding themselves or their families). Of course, upon examination, we can tell that the arguments of petty thieves really don't hold any water (except perhaps in cases where the thieves are really literally starving to death). In most cases, however, the thievery is unjustified, and the justification is just a poor excuse.

Same goes for vigilantism. Vigilantes and their supporters actually throw out the greater good in their rabid desire to inflict punishment. The
evil of vigilantism is NOT trivial. It involves:

      • MURDER
      • DISREGARD FOR THE RULE OF LAW
      • UNJUUSTIFIED PRESUMPTION OF GUILT WITHOUT CLEAR PROOF
      • ENDANGERING INNOCENT BYSTANDERS (proof of that is the several women who have already been injured)
      • ADOPTING A CRIMINAL MINDSET
      • A BLOODTHIRSTY, IRRATIONAL DESIRE TO INFLICT PUNISHMENT ON THOSE WHO HAVE NOT BEEN PROVEN TO HAVE COMMITTED CRIMES

Wake up, vigilante supporters! You are thinking just like the criminals you hate!

Never safe to walk in Colon? Well, I HAVE done so. Several times! And I DID expose valuable items. I used an expensive cellphone in Colon and opened a wallet with a lot of money in full view of everyone. On several occasions too. No one did anyhting against me. Nothing, zero, zilch! No danger or threat to me whatsoever. I agree that Colon may not be the safest place in Cebu, but it is far safer than the seedier parts of Manila any day of the week. If I did the same in Tondo, I would have been killed or robbed within a few minutes.

And just to prove my point, I will do the same again in Colon a few more times. And I'll tell you about it here on Istorya.Net.

175 murders is NOT one or two per month. And the victims are NOT all criminals. Many of them, in fact, have NO proven criminal
      cases pending against them.
Some others, like the tombstone maker who was killed this year, do not even have criminal records and committed no crimes at all!!! In addition, several totally innocent bystanders (women at that!) were also injured. Is this what you call a "little evil"? I suggest you get your facts straight first.
