Great news! I've gotten in touch with Chris Go and he says we just have to tell him when we're planning to come over, so it can be anytime between tomorrow night and Saturday Night, because he said he observes every opportunity of clear skies at night.Since Jupiter doesn't rise high enough til almost midnight, we will view Saturn (since it's already high enough in the western sky and will set at around 11:30 pm)
I'm currently monitoring weather and it looks very promising
So please, please check this thread and our Cebu Astronomy Yahoo Group for updates! I will also text you guys in case we are good to go!

This is great! =)
While there are no typhoons and other low pressure areas around, local (microweather) conditions seem to have this regular pattern of clear, cloudless mornings, but rainy weather after lunchtime towards early evening (ga ulan na gani ron). Since Saturn is an early evening target, it's going to be tough to observe with this wx pattern. But we'll just see--I'll post or text you guys for further updates.

Haha. Ok heads up, we're going to Gaisano this Thursday to check out some cheap Chinese-made Newtonian reflectors w/ EQ mount. Anyone interested just add your name to this group. jfox said Gaisano will allow inspection of the unit(s) so I'll give my review after we've checked them.
We want to try and assess if it's better to buy a relatively cheap Chinese scope, or construct a DIY Dobsonian after purchasing quality parts off eBay.
