I am not a fan of the original graphic novel.
But after watching the Watchmen last night, you could probably say I'm now a convert
I plan my own review sometime later when I get the time, but for now all I can say is, if you grew up in the 70's and 80's and you loved music during those times, that's one good reason to watch this movie. I also enjoyed the spectacular visuals, and surprisingly, how the writers managed to pull off this feat (of squeezing all that info) into the time it took for the movie to play out. Yes, the chronological/temporal way the movie was laid out, makes one almost feel as if one has read the graphic novel sometime in the past, and just flipping back pages to recall what this person did in this time, or what happened to that character in another later period, all done in a very graceful manner.
The movie is riddled with a lot of philosophical questions, and among them, probably my favorite, is that if a god (or God himself) had the option to lie to humanity, in order to achieve and preserve world peace, then would He actually lie to us?
Favorite scene... Dr. Manhattan and the Comedian wiping out the Vietcong as Huey's fly overhead, and Wagner's booming "Ride of the Valkyries" playing in the background...I'm a grown man of 37, yet I felt like jumping up and down and hooting like a little boy when I saw that scene.
