hah! double standards kaayo ako aunt og cousin. ingon sila walay basis ang comment mao insulting siya, pero ni-ingon ko nga "Made in China" ingon sila nga angay ra nga idegrade ang China about the quality of their products. korek.. and for the others who think na OA ra ang reaction sa pinoy, nobody is forcing you to empathize with us... but you can't also stop us from expressing what we feel is an attack of our credibility as professionals practicing here in america... i know we have different views and opinions on this matter but letting even a silly joke like that pass without doing anything is just not right... morag nisugot ra ta na himoong kataw-anan at the expense of our filipino doctors who have worked so hard and sacrificed a lot just to practice in here....

who says anyone here is stopping you in expressing how you feel about the joke?

the drastic actions/reactions from some people are the things that we are criticizing about... some people blew it out of proportion because they didn't even bother to understand the context... nag-una lang ang baba kaysa sa utok...

If you’re one of those who may have stopped at reading the statement by Susan in which she demands to see her gynecologist’s diploma because she’s not satisfied with the diagnosis and already made up their mind that the TV show has just insulted Filipino health care professionals and Filipinos in general, let me ask you for some of your time before you sign-up for that petition or go screaming “Boycott Desperate Housewives! Racist Americans!” or something to that effect. I will not try to convince you not to feel insulted, as you are feeling now, because it would be futile to tell one person not to feel something that he’s genuinely feeling. Rather, I’m wishing that you’d listen to what I say, no matter how different it is from your perspective. And still hoping perhaps, from the additional information, you might just change your mind.

If you’re one of those who think that some people have made unnecessary fuss about this issue, then I also wish that you’d continue to read on.

To continue the story, the gynecologist is a Harvard graduate and diagnosed her as being in menopause. However, later, we’d find out that Susan’s actually pregnant, hence the diagnosis was wrong. Moral of the story? Even a Harvard medical school graduate can make a wrong diagnosis. No matter how much we are under the impression that graduating from such schools automatically makes one a good doctor. No conclusion was formed in the episode that Philippine educated doctors is equal incompetency.

Desperate Housewives is a fictional dramedy show, set in a fictional US suburbia, with fictional stories and fictional characters. So why is this such a big deal? When will people realize that someone on a fictional TV show saying stupid things to minorities and other ethnic groups doesn't mean that the broadcaster shares the same views, rather the writers of that show are just demonstrating the bigotry and shallowness of that character. Time for us to hardened up.

And ABC has already apologized right? So what else does the Philippine govt want? It's funny how they react quickly on silly things like this. But when it come to the real matters at hand like poverty, joblessness, and economic stability in our country?...... "Nope never heard of it!"

i can agree with some of you who say why is this such a big deal.. thing is ... not all of us feel the same way... i am 50/50 on this.. thinking that it's not such a big deal after awhile but .. when i did first hear what susan said, i was surprsied though .. morag ... bang...

let's just leave it to that what people feel about this issue. we cant force each other to feel the same way.so if theyd have reacted, then fine.. if they dont accept the apology, fine ..

i will not argue with you anymore coz i know this is a very subjective matter.. what may be a drastic reaction to you may not be to others esp to all concerned... so just let them be.. maybe in time, it will soon be forgotten just like other past issues...
