Cebu City Councilor Margot Osmeña yesterday defended the City Council's decision to scrap a P50-million outlay intended for upgrading the city's firefighting force.
"We must keep in mind that the Cebu City Fire Department falls under a national office. If we can help them, why not? But our responsibility is to attend first to the needs of the people of the city. Why don't we ask the help of DILG (the Department of the Interior and Local Government)?"

IF the Cebu City Fire Department wants a fire truck for each barangay, then Fire Marshall Aderson Comar should be able to defend it.

Police Coordinating Advisory Council (PCAC) presiding officer Eugene Elizalde wants Comar to submit a report on how many fire trucks the city needs and why.


Elizalde also wants Comar to address the allegedly inefficient service of the city’s fire department.

There have been 11 fires in Cebu City this month, with the Barangay Suba fire considered as the biggest.

Capitol will send relief goods to fire victims in Barangay Suba, Cebu City, and may extend financial aid to affected families, Gov. Gwen Garcia said.

The Province will provide families with noodles, canned goods and rice.

Garcia said they may also send cash aid if the City declares the area under a state of calamity.

The fire last Friday left 2,093 individuals homeless. It is considered the biggest fire so far this month, which is Fire Prevention Month.

i'll go for osmeña because he was firm. On the 2nd thought, we can also give chance to Rama. Let's see and evaluate how he handles the city until the end of his term. By then, we can really tell if the "CHANGE" he promised will be realized.
