Go nuclear. A tripple A battery size (AAA) uranium can power the entire SM Mall for ten years. Build a railway transit and use nuclear for power.Â*
moi, i prefer Miguel's suggestion. why not take advantage of our very own indigenous products? this will not only help us gain savings, this will also reduce air pollution and help our farmers not to lose their livelihood.
besides the breakthrough in biofuel program, have you guys heard of the recent study of Japan? According to Dr. Koji Yoshida of Nihon University, Japan’s largest university, in partnership with the Integrated Research and Training Center of Technological University of the Philippines, diesel fuel blended with coco-biodiesel can be used on unmodified engines.

also according to the study, any diesel-powered vehicle (jeepneys, buses, utility vehicles, trucks) can immediately use coco-biodiesel as an alternative fuel and consequently earn extra savings from mileage efficiency.
i think there's only a slight price differential between the three oil companies, i've been a petron user ever since i got hold of my first car, indeed they are the cheapest, but that's only less than a peso..
if we wanna give these companies a hard beating, then i think it's better if we focus more on other alternative source of energy, or i think this is the time we and government must give serious support to filipino scientists and inventors who has been giving us prospect alternatives..
Business is not a philantrophist's job. The purpose of business is to maximize profit. Although businesses also have social obligation but it's main purpose really is to earn money. The government cannot dictate how these oil companies price their oil because that would veer away from the free market concept and would contradict the deregulation law unless the pricing is outrageously high and very unfair then that would probably be the time that the government can intervene. In common parlance, "business is business".Originally Posted by riko diko
Is predatory pricing familiar to you? Predatory pricing is when the price of a commodity is very low compared to the prevailing marketing price. It is prohibited since it would result in killing small businesses since most consumers would most like opt to the cheapest commodity, so in order for these small businesses to keep up the competition they they would result in lowering their price which in the long run if there's no change in pricing it would result to bankruptcy. If Shell and Caltex will do that to keep up the competition with Petron then small players like Flying V would close their businesses but realistically, it is very unlikely that Shell and Caltex would lower their price.
The best way for now is for the government to regulate the oil sector and abolish the oil deregulation law. Being regulated, the oil pricing will be controlled, the only drawback to this is that if the world market price for oil goes down, don't expect that the price of oil from oil companies goes down also.
IF YOU WANT TO PATRONIZE PETRON ONLY AND FOR NO OTHER OIL COMPANY THEN I ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO IT QUICKLY. I JUST WONDER IF YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO IT AND BE A LOYAL PETRON CONSUMER BUT ANYWAY I WISH YOU LUCK.
nya unsa naman balita sa exploration sa tanon strait? naka kita gyud sila ug possible oil supply didto? ug tinuud na nga naa tay oil dre I think maka supply na tas atong need at lower price ug naay extra supplies then we can sell it to our neighboring countries nya maka kwarta pa ta to finance more oil explorations![]()
that tanon strait exploration still has no impact to our economy..ang shell ra gihapon nag finance ani..so 80-90% of the profit will go to Shell and the rest will go to the Phil government...
Philippines. Still the biggest news is the development of Shell Philippines Exploration's Malampaya deepwater development in 2,800-ft water, 4 mi northwest of Palawan. In September 2001, first gas flowed through the 312-mi long pipeline to power plants at Batangas on the mainland. Five subsea wells have been drilled for initial development, flowing to a gas processing/ condensate storage platform in shallower water, then to the pipeline. A calm buoy transfers condensate to tankers. Gas rates will steadily increase with onshore market development. Four more development wells are planned by 2009. In April 2002, Shell drilled the MA-10 well with the Atwood Falcon semi on the oil rim of the field in 2,800-ft water, producing up to 8,000 bopd on an extended test, to the FSO Stena Natalita. Shell has been evaluating the development prospect. Domestic crude production of probably less than 5,000 bopd, excluding the condensate, does not begin to meet consumption in the 350,000 bopd range.
In other exploration news, JAPEX was awarded a Geophysical Survey and Exploration Contract for GSEC 102 in the Tanon Strait, near Forum's SC40 offshore block; and Sterling Energy was awarded GSEC 101 covering Reed Bank off northwest Palawan. Unocal farmed-in with Alcorn and Nido to do a study of the undeveloped Galoc deepwater field off Palawan. Nido is reviewing its Matinloc and Nido, fields to boost output. Tracer Petroleum acquired 6623 % of Forum Exploration. In 2003, Forum was drilling the shallow Forum 1-X, near the MST-11 well, the first of three exploratory wells on Cebu island.
The concept where the government regulates fuel prices is actually "subsidizing". So to protect the citizens from high prices the gov't will spend so much so as to buffer rising oil. That is if your country is not the Philippines. Too bad my country is the Philippines.Originally Posted by Miguel

About that predatory thing you're talking about, what good does it do when most of us are affected badly by high price of consumables?
Since I the day I got this email I stopped refueling at Shell and went on with Petron. No side effects to my car nor to myself. No hassle whatsoever. Our other vehicles at home now shifted to Petron, our jeepney fleet now to Petron, is there any problem? None!
Bai, just open your mind and give this a thought, THIS COULD WORK! So, sakay na! hehe... If you're thinking I'm getting something from Petron, or I'm a dealer of some sort, you may be right you may be wrong, but still this concept COULD STILL BRING THE PRICES DOWN.
that is not a solution to our problem!!!!!!
we should make an alternative for gasoline so that we will not be dependent importing with that kind of product. we simply explore our country and produce more ethanol to mix with the gasoline that we use in our everday usage.
yup Petron nako pirmi
