This process takes 14 days to shed, which leads to menstruation. So kung 28 days ang cycle, ovulation happened at 14 days. Kung 30 days, ovulation happened at 16 days. Kanang mga irregular mens nga usahay muabot ug 40 days or so, ang ovulation ana nila siguro mga day 26 pa. Pero hindsight ni siya bai. So how sure are you when you say "safe" period ang 5 days before mens, or first few days after mens? Very hard to say, IMO.

What if imo sperm kay powerful and lasts longer than 4 days (it is rumored it can last up to 6-7 days gani), then sayo siya mag ovulate?
