Ate, good to hear nga they’re treating you well there. Good for you. I presume nga walay bagyo diha ron and nindot ug limpyo ang hotel nga inyon’g gi stay han.

Sorry kaayo ‘te nga negative jud pulos ra akon’g ma share diri. I forgot all the good things naman gud about this company. Maybe because nasapawan sila sa mga bad things nga akon’g nahiagoman (lawom kaau..hehe).

I can still remember when I received my payslip with a negative adjustment which the payroll in-charge explained that it was intended to correct a previous error committed by the admin assistant in the computation of my holiday pay (lenten season). It was then that I started to doubt the accuracy of this department. Then I rechecked the computation and found out that they are indeed wrong. I submitted the corrected computation to the admin manager who told me that she will add it to my next pay. I also tried to recompute the tax refund computation (last years tax) and found out another adjustable amount. It was time-consuming and mind-boggling when their accountant insisted that she can’t trace as to where did our computations differ, so again, I pointed it out to them. They agreed to me finally.

After I got my final pay, I never looked at at the tax refund computation yet nor the certificate of creditable tax yet as I don’t want yet to experience the same confusion and discussions/arguments again not to mention the somewhat questionable manner of release. You needed to sign the quitclaim and release form first at the law office (6th floor) before you can claim the check from the admin department. The quitclaim form stated that you have already received all benefits (final pay, 13th month pay, etc.) due to you and then it is notarized by their lawyer right after you sign. I am not too sure if this is the correct procedure but in my previous employment, you will sign the said form in front of the check-releasing in-charge (kaliwaan ang style). So, it’s like that up to the very end, I had no trust in the company as much as they don’t have any trust in me Dili jud mi niya compatible maon’g buwag ang amon’g mga dalan.

So Mongol and friends - for us who doesn’t like this company very much, we might not be very reliable. We may be bias as we were just basing everything on our bad experiences and those of others. It would also help if you listen to those who have nice things to say and try your luck. Maybe they might like you. If not, then just think that God himself did not find so much friends in His own land…

To return to the original post: Is iComm a good company to work for as a developer?

In short, if you seek experience in MS and/or open source development, then YES, it is an excellent place to earn your wings.
As with any company, and I have been with a few over the years, it is not perfect. It suffers from problems unrelated to it's core business of providing software and support services for its mother company IBCJapan. Whatever company you work for, you will not be 100% happy. That's a fact of life.

On the positive side, and there are many benefits with iComm, it is a great enviroment in which to learn and gain experience. Whilst there is minimal training, there is ample freedom to learn by one's mistakes, experiment, choose your own way of doing things, and get your hands on current technologies. As a company, it does not have the strict roles as with other larger corporations - it is more flexible and tends to "roll it's own".
Personalities aside, if you wish to gain experience in developing real world applicaions, it's a great place to start.

@SysTatoyNY - Hi GG, hope NY is treating you well.

1.) Beginners / fresh graduate --> this is a good company to start with but not a long term job. So for short it will be your training ground for the first and 2nd year. Ok rana ma excel imong skills, but at the same time be observant sad sa dagan sa kompanya para maka G ka sa mga pahintabo.

2.) Aspirants that has experience --> since you have the experience before, tanawa lang kung ka angay ka sa salary package and ask for your duties and responsibilities para klaro ba.

Naa ra sa mga aspirants kung passion driven (eg digitalsuperman) bamo or salary package (ambot kinsa kaha dili nalang ta mention para la gubot) driven..hihihi

Well one thing for sure kung mo work mo ngari iComm, ayaw lng sad mo pag salig maau sa uban for example... abi kay wla na state sa in ung Job description mag salig na dayon sa uban mag pa buhat... wlay initiative nga mo take time and effort to learn whats supposed to be part of their project.

PS. para sa mo react... note that their is a difference in what im saying... between trying its best while asking help and none at all while asking...

Feelings are made to be expressed. It is not meant to be helpless nor kept. Don't be a loser without fightin'. Never make regrets for yourself to suffer coz you know what? in SILENCE it hurts more! (kay buot pasabot wa na jud kay ikapalit ug load)..hehehe
