is lebanon rich? try checking their GDP... if their filthy rich, their would be no Lebanese working for Saudis.. Lebanon has more intelligent people than KSA but not as intelligent as Filipinos, but they are not filthy rich .. I wonder if you have really been in the middle east?

They aren't that much poorer than Saudi Arabia, and they just came from a war. They have been rich in the past though and are heading back there.

Btw, what were you doing in the Middle East and which countries?
Wurag OT na kaayo ning lalisa.. kung kinsay mas tapulan o mas brigiht .. balik nlang ta sa topic: naa man tay oil diri. So what's our excuse now?

From Wikipedia: Lebanon GDP=$58.576 billion, Saudi Arabia GDP= $618.744 billion... it's really not far and they aren't much poorer.. .. and Philippines has only a GDP of $160.991 billion

I'm sorry and forgive me for my ignorance, do we already have oil reserve in the Philippines? I mean, have we found a place in the Philippines where there is a huge volume of oil that we can do business with? If you'll be kind enough to show me some articles about it, it would be highly appreciated coz I really don't have much time to do a research.. And,as far as I know, coconut oil pman ang daghan sa ato-a gud...

And, I don't have to tell you what I do and where I have been coz you don't have to know all those things... What's the point?? It's not my habit of sharing personal information to some random guys in the internet.. There's no point of doing that..

You claim you're an expert on arabs just because you've been there, but you don't want to substantiate that by disclosing what you were doing there. Just being there doesn't mean anything, that could mean you were a tourist, employee or businessman. I don't see how it's possible for anyone to make accurate generalizations about an entire race as a tourist. If you were there for employment, that kind of smacks of ingratitude calling your past or present employers lazy and stupid. If it's on business, I wonder how any good businessman would want to do business with someone they consider lazy and stupid.. so how about we just set aside the claims that either of us have been there, it's not adding anything to the discussion because neither of us can convince each other, unless you want to meet me in person and show passports

I guess you either dont know the difference between gross gdp and nominal gdp ppp or are being intellectually dishonest by equating gross ppp with wealth, conveniently ignoring that population is the other side of the equation. China gross gdp is second largest in the world does that mean they are second richest country in the world, richer than Switzerland?? This brings me to another point that population is a much bigger influence than oil. Doesnt matter how resource rich a country is if they have too many people they wont be rich or gain any benefit from the resources. The population of Dubai is very small, they have more expats working there than natives. But there's another factor and that is that their wealth is evenly distributed, because of huge subsidies by their government and because their leaders genuinely want to help their own kind. So the policies and decisions of leaders matter too. To just say oil is the primary reason, is making things too simple. There's a whole host of reasons which combined greatly outweigh the economic effects of oil: friendly policies towards foreign investors, land ownership for foreigners, tax-havens for expats working there, the decision to reinvent themselves into a long-haul passenger stop-over hub akin to Hong Kong by placing investment in Emirates and brand new airport terminals.

If you've never heard of deep oil fields in Palawan then you probably don't live here, or don't bother with the news.. that's not including our large reserves of natural gas, which is also an energy export of the middle east.

Known nman kaau na ang oil fields sa Palawan. Hagbay ra kaau na na balitaa.

    here's a link for you:

    Philippine Oil
    Then click the first article.

Now, after reading that article and thinking that we produce thousands of barrels of oil, and since our topic is "Why can't the Phil do what Libya, blah blah blah. My question is, Is it still about the oil? We have oil, but why isn't this country rich?

If we compare are country with oil producing countries, wa jud ta dag.anan.. Bisan pa og "we've got brilliant minds and highly skilled people" .. Dubai and Libya are Arab countries and if we compare Filipinos with Arabs, wa jud na dag.anan ang mga Arabo nato bahin lang og abilidad. Ambot naa ba na sa ila ang "we've got brilliant minds and highly skilled people" kay sa akong nasuwayan, wa jud.. Arabs are the dumbest and laziest people I've met (always using the name of God as an excuse for doing and not doing something).. Mao nga ayaw mo og kabalaka nganong mas dato na sila nato kay ang ilang oil ra jud ang nakatabang nganong nadato na sila og dili ang kalidad sa mga tawng namuyo anang mga lugara.. Although karon ang Dubai wa na magsalig sa OIL but still Dubai's economy was built on the back of the oil industry.. They're just lucky they have oil to jump-start their economy.

And if you ask, nganong uban countries diha nga rich in oil man unta but are still poor man gihapon? Maybe studying the history of Saudi Arabia and comparing it with those countries will perhaps enlightened you a little. (by the way, bisan wala'y labot ang KSA ani nga topic, KSA's government are full of corrupt people too but still their country is filthy rich)

Thanks for the invitation but I really don't do meet ups.. It's not my thing. Only narrow minded people would go in a meeting with random people they met over the internet just to prove and brag about themselves ... And, i'm not claiming to be expert with Arabs.. Being expert means you know everything about them. I don't wanna know everything about them. Just knowing that majority of their race are not as good as majority of the Filipinos is already a joy to me..

We don't have to discuss too much economic terms and we don't have to go deeper with that. Just prove to me or give me actual facts that Lebanon is not that much poorer than Saudi Arabia then maybe I'll be convinced.... And question, have you been (assuming that you've been to a lot of countries) or (atleast) know the situation in Dubai before it became the Dubai we know now? Before it's economy was backed by oil? .... Or let us use another example, a good example, Saudi Arabia (since they're the biggest player)... Do you think KSA would be the KSA we know without their oil? Do you think that a very hot country with a very conservative people and laws would be filthy rich?

I may have heard about the oil fields in Palawan and our large natural gas reserves.. Will you be kind enough to show some articles about them?
