the photo of the dead merman posted in this thread is fake. a fine work of an excellent craftsman. it's being sold in ebay a few month back. this picture is definitely not from cebu...the seller is from florida. if you look at the bottom right of these pictures, you will see the EBAY Watermark seen on all pictures posted in ebay.
here's a nice short fiction though regarding mermaids. a very nice story. click on the link below:

lahi man na nga mermaid tol... hahahaa...
I have read about this in an article? this seemed to be a misidentification. It said that what fishermen and sea farers saw long ago is not really a mermaid but a kind of sea mammal similar to dugong which has the ability to mimic music and sing it as a lullaby to there young. cruise ships of long ago that celebrates merry making at sea contributes to this. with background music and dancing this intelligent creatures mimic this music and sing it alone, with the group of there young. so others could hear them as a lady singing and trying to lure someone to their death by drowning.![]()
not sure kay la pa man ko kakita ug mermaids. ug la pa sad ko kita ug pix nga authentic
i often dont believe in stories passed by word of mouth. to see is to believe
