since we all seem to love books here, i would like to share one of my deepest pains about books. i was in a foreign land, when it became time to fold up operations there. we had about 20 big balikbayan boxes full of various books of varied genre belonging to the employees. it was free for the taking. how i wish i had the money to have them shipped home. it did hurt a lot to be the one taking the boxes for pickup by the garbage truck as we closed our office. i was able to bring home some tom clancy, some grishams, and a few more. but what a waste that was. in hindsight, i could have left my clothes and things and instead choose to bring those books home. books are friends who will stay with you. appliances fail and become useless junks after a few years. books and their knowledge in those pages, remain fresh friends.
