i thought phoenix will be the 3rd pick overall? and i assume they got it from either joe johnson or boris diaw trade. if it's true that phoenix will be the third pick, it would be a big boost for them, and im really getting excited about it. .. forget about greg oden and kevin durant because for sure they'll end up in the number 1 and 2 picks. either yi jianlian or al horford are perfect fit for the suns. they might be the missing piece in the suns puzzle.

phoenix have pick numbers 4, 24, and 29 in the first round and number 59 in the second round. finally, this will break the 8 man rotation of the suns. i just hope they take yi jianlian. but al horford is still a good choice. phoenix is really in need of a good big man to play with amare stoudemire

new orleans hornets is at 13 and 43. a promising season awaits the hornets. though they might not have a good draft, the return of peja and healthy david west will make the hornets a playoff contender. paul, peja, d. mason, west, chandler. probable drafts for the hornets are al thornton, spencer hawes, thaddeus young, derrick byars, and nick young. 2 big men, 2 SFs and a SG. i just do hope the hornets will land a good choice. defense might be their concern next season

The pick is top 3 protected. Meaning, if the Hawks get top 3; Hawks keep it, but if Hawks get 4 down; Suns get it. A boost? yeah. Could be.

That's good news for the Suns. BUT, did you know that the SUns are gonna be facing luxury-tax issues hereon. It could be exciting but if the Suns are thinking about getting back their core players and draft players (which is 3 first round picks and a second rounder) they're gonna be doing ala-New York Knicks na situation. This could cost the Phoenix management a lot.

So, who's tradeable? Shawn Marion - he's got 2 years and a $33.6 million. Marion could be one of the Suns' top players but, like they say "you have to give some to get some". Marion is enticing for several teams and the Suns could squeeze in Marcus Banks' contract, which is $21million in 5 years (a big sum for someone who didn't fit with the Suns' style). Additionally, Kurt Thomas has a player option this year through next with a total of $8.1 million.

The solution? Phoenix might have to do nothing in the offseason. Marion can do it all, score, rebound, pass, defend, laugh, tickle etc. Nobody can replace that. Unless Jerry Colangelo pulls off another trade miracle that will put the SUns under the cap limit, that's a good notion.

If the Suns are able to pull off something to clear a pathway for new faces, then this could be their next move:

Suns is in need of a back-up point guard who can fit into the Suns' system. For me, if the Suns get number 4 (which is true enough) they're gonna have to use it for Mike Conley, Jr. Conley's court vision is as similar to that of Nash if given the proper help and could be the next primary Suns PG if Nash retires.

Get Tiago Splitter (if he's available) with the #24 pick. Suns can use him for defense and middle presence as well as his scoring production. They can replace Kurt THomas with Splitter, which has a cheaper contract than the latter.

Get Nick Young with the 29th pick. This guy is made for a run-n-gun style of play. An he's an SG.

Get 59th pick and trade for cash. That way, Suns are able to provide cap relief for themselves.

It's not Tmac and Yao's fault. Ngano? Ila sala nga na-injured sila? Grabeh sad ka. A player has no choice but to sit down during an injury to help it heal and play for another day. The Rockets did well this season but fell short in eliminating the Jazz in the semi-finals BUT it is not Tmac and Yao's fault. It's not Shane Battier either, or Dikembe or his waving finger.

Jeff Van Gundy's style has never fit the Rockets'. He might have 2 of the most dominant players in the league, but he wasn't able to take advantage of that. The Rockets need a new direction and it was a "right" decision to let Jeff Van Gundy go. He may be a great coach for some but his weakness was he never thinks about long-term investments in his team and develop some semblance off the bench, which is actually mirrored in the playoffs when they are facing the same team a hundred times in a row. Van Gundy could've set up different offensive approach since the Jazz already knew, obviously, enough how to handle the Rockets' plays.

When you don't plan for the future, there will just come a time when you run our of the necessary tools. This is what happened here.

So, Rick Adelman, Marc Iavaroni (Suns asst coach), Mario Elie, Rick Carlisle or anyone? Rudy Tomjanovich. hehe

im actually thinking of taking the 4th overall pick. good choices are yi jianlian and al horford. both could give amare stoudemire much relief inside, especially that kurt thomas is aging and probably might not take another year with phoenix. mike conley is an excellent choice but phoenix is in need of a decent big man. steve nash is still good for 4 to 5 years. keep marion and trade banks. he's never a fit for the suns. phoenix can fish out better guards in the free agency pool. chuckie atkins and jeff mcinnis are better PGs than banks for the suns. plus big men danny fortson, joe smith, kelvin cato and michael olowakandi are good prospects for the suns. anyway, they don't need to stay long on the court.

plus guards derek anderson, james posey and jason kapono will also be a good fit for the suns.

if any of these deals would materialize, here's my suns line-up:

It could be worth it. If the Suns don't make it to the NBA Finals next season, then it will never be the same for them.

A decent big man? Yi Jianlian is still raw. The Suns may have to make him run to score, but defense-wise he has the ability to do it. But, like i said, he's still a project. Al Horford is a good fit for the Suns indeed but they still have to find someone who can ease Steve Nash's minutes on the floor. With Mike Conley, the Suns are preparing a quality PG for the future. Sure, they need a big man but they're playing a run-and-gun style and a PG who has a good court vision will help them tremendously, especially with Nash on the bench.

That's a lot of big men there. But again, the Suns are way beyond the luxury tax and signing players will make matters worse for them, financially.

Atkins could be a perimeter threat but he's getting old while McInnis is a troubled PG who's having problems back in New Jersey, he could be another Marcus Banks. Posey is a poor man's Shawn Marion eventhough he has championship experience, Kapono needs more money and D Anderson might be a good pickup but he could be just another Jalen Rose.

Fortson is an undersized 6'8 center, if the Suns sign him, maghuot na sila ni Pat Burke sa bench. Joe Smith, Kelvin Cato and Michael Olowokandi are horrible big men. Few teams have been able to utilize their bigness and how much more if they play with the Suns who run 200 miles an hour.

The Suns use 6-7 players on the court, one big guy will do in guarding tough guys like the Duncans, Boozers, Yaos and O'Neals of the league. Keep in mind that their primary style is PURE OFFENSE.
