ye sure about that!?, thought wala ko nakasulay aning new lts version nila..., wala pa sab ko maka-download...

anyways, since newbie man ka sa imo linux venture..., for the filesystem of choice, just choose ext3/4, and for partitions, only 2 or 3 partitions, 1 for sysytem, 1 for home, 1 for swap
you may omit home, you may even omit swap if you prefer.
if you ever omit swap, be sure you have 'ample' ram for your so called linux system...

    note:
option 1 is auto partition (ubuntu does the partitioning for you)
    last option is manual partition

Canonical had been tempted to copy Microsoft's new model, which is to embed Adware/Malware into the Ubuntu OS. Amazon pays premium to canonical for the data gathered and sent to 'em...jeez effin hell!! However, if you're vigilant enuf, you can turn it off manually, unlike in windowns where you have to run DWS (destroy windows 10 spying) software.

my advise, download and install Hardinfo, take a look into where your computer is sending packets to, then block those connections with the "ufw" command.

    was i off-topic there?

    temped to copy...? ^_^

if you are 'a bit' seasoned linux user..., "SYSTEMD" should be the topmost thing that will be similar as what you are saying ^_^.

as this breaks the traditional linux philosophy...

linus uses RHEL-based with Gnome Shell... debian is much easier to install compared to Arch however debian is restrictive interms of update... since the only way to do it is risk using sid/testing branch... ubuntu is always based on testing branch....
