para sa ako na lang pud I would prefer na ang isa ka batan-on makahuman ug hi-skul and the rest of his life create a business that he/she will have to pursue.. besides our education is no guarantee to be rich.. and we don't need to be extremely intelligent to be rich.. and we need that mindset na dapat ang ato kababayan should be rich and not just becoming a mediocre persons.. in this way I think makadevelop pa ang bata ug discipline and positive outlook in life that when he/she enters business dili jud sya mu-give up no matter how many times he/she failed so that they can get their goal in a long term..
daghan na man gud ko nakaila na hi-skul graduate lang pero majority of them already owns a business.. compared to college graduates na only few get a realization that to become rich is the only thing that u are secured in life and not being a lifetime employee.
Since according to various studies, in the Philippines, rural poverty is more than 70% of the total poverty incidence then we should prioritize the rural areas. In these areas, poor people would be the farmers, fishermen, and others belonging to the agricultural sector.
In my opinion, one of the reasons they are poor is because they do not have the proper capital (financial and technological) to improve their agricultural yields which would then be converted to more income. Another reason is the middle-men. In most cases, these middle-men would buy their products at a very low price and sell them at a much higher price and higher profit for them.
My suggestion to eliminate or at least minimize these obstacles is through cooperatives. With the help of the Department of Agriculture, Cooperative Development Authority, and DPWH these poor farmers and fisher folks should be assisted in creating their own cooperatives and in enhancing their skills through technologies and added financial capital and more farm to market roads. If these will be done, they will have a much stronger voice and power which would translate them from being just the supplier of various agricultural products to becoming the wholesalers and retailers.
Example: Tony Tan Caktiong of Jollibee (Jollibee Foundation - Jollibee Foods Corporation To Expand Team Up With Local Farmers) is actually willing to buy rice directly from the farmers. The problem is that they cannot provide and sustain the amount of rice that Jollibee needs since these farmers operate separately and therefore can only provide a very limited supply. If these farmers will be able to make a cooperative then they will have the capacity to satisfy this need.
If this will be replicated across the country then we will be able to help the majority of the poor in the country. We will also be able to have food security in our country which easily translates to more affordable food for ALL. So with this approach, we create wealth and have a more even distribution of it across the country whether in the form of additional income for farmers or more affordable food for the rest of the country. If people have better income then it would discourage economic-related crimes such as robbery. Further, if people work together (as in cooperatives) then their will be a sense of community which MIGHT translate to lower non-economic related crimes (murder, rape, etc.)
BTW, this is does not serve as a all-encompassing solution to poverty but rather as a start. Education is another powerful tool against poverty. It is only unfortunate that children in the rural areas would rather work than go to school to earn money. If a program (similar as described above) will be implemented then most likely they will attend school since their families' earnings are more than enough for their needs.
lisud na ni sulbaron, nag ka daghan na gani....
we cant blame anyone but ourselves. we can stop poverty if each of us stops corruption. we all are corrupt individual in big ways or in small ways. change should start within us, everything else will follow. if we are still alive in this world then there is still hope for change but its not easy it will take a very long time.. tsktsk
