MANILA, Philippines - The camp of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo asked for respect from the public amid the defacing of her photos in her neck brace.
Elena Bautista-Horn, Arroyo’s spokesperson, said the pictures they recently issued were for legal purposes, as was attached in a petition before the Supreme Court.
The defaced pictures are now making the rounds in social networking sites. Some were made in composite to cartoon characters.
Arroyo's lawyers on Tuesday disclosed the pictures of Arroyo with her head brace. One of the pictures shows Arroyo wearing a 3-kilogram halo that was screwed to the base of her skull from August 24 to September 19.
The pictures were attached to the petition seeking for the lifting of her name in the watch list of the Bureau of Immigration.
Bautista Horn also stressed the disclosure of the pictures was not to gain pity from critics. – from a report by Jon Ibañez, dzMM
