If I remember it right, Abalos said that there was indeed a chance encounter but there was no emotionally charged encounter... meaning, had FG pointed a finger at JDVIII while shouting "back off" it would have been scandalous already among the presence of many people at WackWack.. It could have easily spread in circles including the waiters themselves.Originally Posted by vipvip68
Regarding the headline of the article, "Abalos denies March meeting...." well, it's the editor himself who made the title perhaps to make it look attractive.. He should have made the title specific. For me, media should make their titles specific and not generalized because there are actually some people, like me sometimes, who are tired of reading very long newspaper articles that they only read the title or the excerpts..
As a result, twisted ang perception sa uban especially the opposition and the leftists who are bent on ousting the admin no matter what.. A perfect example is the text ringtone that is being circulated now with the voice of someone shouting "back off" perhaps alluding to FG.. I think it's unfair.. The ZTE is still under investigation.. We still can't really conclude who's who and what is what unless everything is clarified fair and square.
Hehehe..
I've also noticed something about some of our Senators.. They ask questions that are just intended to pin down or find a fault on someone instead of asking questions to gain more information.. Just take a look at how Jinggoy asks questions.. Waahh.
@arnoldsa
That's subject to interpretation sad...some would say that the admin is trying to wiggle themselves out of their inconsistent statements... others would say the opposition is looking for reasons to bring down the government.....
But now that you have Neri's testimony... what do you make of Abalos... did he offer those bribes? Did he lie about meeting the ZTE? or Si Neri ang ga twist sa whole story?

Neri was ready to talk about ZTE....
Joker Arroyo ... I am very disappointed......paid Crony!
I currently have a VOIP (voice over the internet protocol) Telephone here at home through Packet8 (http://www.packet8.net)...
What is this?
This is a landline telephone unit connected to a Router/Modem that is then connected to my DSL internet connection (instead of being connected to PLDT or what). This allows me to make long distance calls to the USA for FREE and UNLIMITED and calls to other countries at very, very, very, very, very cheap prices.... The fixed monthly fee is only US$25 (more or less P1,100) which is charged to my mom who is based in the USA.
It's just like an ordinary phone in the sense that it has a dial tone and a number... What makes this unique is that my number is based in the USA even if the telephone unit is here at Cebu, Philippines.. Thus if I call someone else's cellphone, what will appear in the caller ID is a USA-based number, specifically in Cerritos, California.
This is the reason why my calls to the USA are FREE and UNLIMITED because my VOIP telephone service is based in Cerritos, California thus the calls are just treated like any ordinary local calls. People can also call me anytime they want..
There's no need for me to log-in or what in the internet like in Yahoo or Skype.. The phone line itself is active even if your computer is off or what.. It's just like any ordinary PLDT landline telephone..
Even my parents' land line telephone in the USA is VOIP already..
I can even make a business out of this, say I'll charge P2 per minute for anyone who wants to call anywhere in the USA.. Basta for me, everyday me mag call sa akong parents nga naa sa U.S. and it's all free and unlimited.. Maski whole day pa ka mag telebabad...
I'm imagining all the possibilities if we have this National Broadband Project, be it with ZTE or someone else.
..
@arnoldsa
unsa ni?
to the topic:
the merits of the ZTE deal are all vague. aren't we running in circles made by these personalities? I mean hullor, their haven't been concrete evidences of pointing out who made which. We are all listening to I say, hearsays.
I can't even decide if there's a battle of integrity among neri, abalos, FG, JDV III (the most), mendoza and others. they are all rumormongerers.
UNLESS:
1. there's a Clarissa Ocampo who'll say I am a foot away to ERap when he signs the docs, I won't believe.
2. there's s a perfecto yasay, yulo, and even singson to prove the allegations, I wont join the frenzy. so long that it's only JDVIII whom I dnt trust, it's useless to deduce.
3. even if there's a recall of the charades of sen. santiago, still it is unbelievable.
4. so long as there is no bank accts that shows these huge money transactions, it is still doubtful.
5. if it is the truth as JDV III shouts, evidences would surface. Trust me.
I am waiting for its merits.
@arnoldsa
Indeed the possibilities of a Broadband connection are endless.. VOIP, Internet etc. Hands down.. no argument with respect to that.
The only problem I have with the current NBN project (The one the government was about to push through) was that ....
The Wimax systems only serve government agencies. They have mentioned this several times that they DONT INTEND to open their infrastructure to the public.... (excuses include security reasons and limitations of the project itself)
An ideal broadband project would be one that is aimed at lowering the cost of internet and telecom costs. Also, the said project has to benefit the private sector as well as government agencies.
They should also let the private sector handle the project thru B.O.T. so they wont incur any debt / borrowings.
Again... the idea in concept is good... but the government's execution is terrible.
The key to this whole he said she said situation is Neri...Originally Posted by ichor_82283

To place the whole thing in perspective.... there are only 2 possibilities..... Abalos is lying... or Neri and JDVIII are lying...
If you question the credibility of the three just ask this one question to all 3 of them..
"Why would he be lying?"
1. For abalos... he's just defending himself against any allegations of wrongdoing...
2. for JDV III.. he may just be a disgruntled businessman who lost the bid and is out to get payback.
3. For Neri.... he would lie becauseIt really doesnt make sense why he would be lying... it's obvious he's protecting the president pero he knows his testimony against abalos would damage the Comelec Chairman and raise questions about GMA's credibility. It's like shooting urself in the foot...
Neri is not telling us what the president said after he reported the 200 bribe.
The breaks in this case can come from 2 ppl... (Abalos and Neri)...
1. If abalos in an attempt to clear his name suddenly becomes a star witness and brokers an immunity deal... its gonna be a tell all affair and he's gonna reveal everything about the Hello Garci and all the other issues.
2. If Neri is grilled enough and pressured so that he will think of his own welfare before the presidents. He might just spill the beans on his conversation with the president.
In this case... you have witnesses testifying.. both Neri and JDVIII give first hand testimonies of graft and corruption... yet with all witnesses.. the defense will always try to discredit the witness first to make his testimony null and void (ex. Drug use). In this case.. the evidence is there.. (testimonies, discrepancies in the approval of the project, whitewashing of the bidding and other procurement procedures) The problem here is that the people holding the evidence are in cahoots with the persons in Power.
angay jud ni dili madayon nga contrata kay usik2x sa ato buwis.. usik na gane sa local gov't hasta pa jud diha...
It's really good that Abalos resigned from his post. At least, he will be saved from humiliation for his ever controversial involvement in this issue. I really wonder why his name is being dragged in this deal since his public post is not in any way related to the project.
The senators should stop using this investigation to promote their personal interest. They could very well investigate in aid of legislation without compromising the Senate as an institution.
