Thread: iPhone 5S

    cosmetically, not worth pa ko mag upgrade to the 5S, so what if it's a gold coloured one.. the screen realstate is just the same as my Ip5... touch ID is not at all useful man kaau...

    I'd hold off for now until next year when the Ip6 will come out, if Apple decides to push thru with a screen, size 5"+ and an Iwatch to go along with it... well that's going to be one heck for me...

    Champagne color has the same price as the other ones. Maybe some stores charge it more due to hight demand. Apple charge it the same.

    I got it from Apple.com US website. It's Factory Unlocked out of the box (never locked). It's also SMART/GLOBE LTE compatible with all bands 1/3/5. Also, for what it's worth, I ordered as soon as the US Apple.com site opened on September 20, 2013 12AM PDT (3AM EDT). Those who ordered within the first 3 mins got the 1-3 Business Days delivery. Those who were just under 5-10 mins got 7-10 Business Days ETA. The rest were pushed to "October 2013". If you can imagine how many people were ordering online at the eve of the 5S sale, you could imagine how limited the Gold was back then (even today).

    All the colors have the same prices. However, the Gold one is really rare. What is happening is that resellers are buying tons of the Gold ones and then they hoard them and then sell them at a hefty price. This is the sad truth of supply and demand. No wonder if you check at kim.com.ph and widgetcity.com.ph, the Gold 5S is sky-rocketing over 50K PHP.

    I really like the Gold one. It's just my preference really. The touch ID is uber responsive and doesn't let you down. I bought some cases too including the official Apple iPhone 5S Case and a Spigen Neo Hybrid.

    Yep naa. When you ask any Apple staff either at a Brick & Mortar Apple Store or from 1-800-MYAPPLE, they will tell you outright that all iPhone 5S are LOCKED. That is what they are instructed to tell customers.

    However, there are (in fact) FACTORY UNLOCKED iPhones. The following are FACTORY UNLOCKED when you buy from Apple Stores (Brick & Mortar / Online):

    * iPhone 5S AT&T "Device Only" (meaning you are purchasing the phone without contract)
    * iPhone 5S Verizon (both with contract & contract-free are UNLOCKED because of some requirements by US Law)
    * iPhone 5S T-Mobile Contract-Free

    They won't advertise a FACTORY UNLOCKED 5S until the world wide release (similar with all the previous releases of iPhones). This has been "heavily" discussed over at MACRUMORS. Be careful though. If you buy any iPhone 5S at a carrier store, it will surely be LOCKED (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mo & Sprint). The trick is to buy the above mentioned phones from Apple only.

    As of September 20, 2013, Apple has stopped selling the iPhone 5. It has been replaced by the iPhone 5C/5S. You can still buy brand new iPhone 5 (old stock) at specific retails stores though.
