battle scenes? YES!

but fight scenes in LOTR trilogy? man to man scenes or man to orc? NO! they are badly photographed probably due to the fact that Peter Jackson felt no need to feature them extensively.


KILL BILL VOL. 1 - i can say this over and over again. i love the cinematography and how Quentin Tarantino combines his images and the music that he likes. The action scenes in KILL BILL have the edge that the Bruce Lee movies had, and speaking of how they are framed: they sort of have that edge that Brian DePalma films have. maybe Kurosawa was also one of this film's influences.
Not that exposed to classics though.......

just my 2 cents.

yeah THE PHANTOM MENACE despite the fact that the rest of the film had bad pacing and seemed too juvenile when compared to the ORIGINAL trilogy, the duel at the hangar makes up for all that and ranks alongside the BEST OF THE BEST of fight scenes in my book

in LOTR, it was in FOTR that was more detailed, death of Boromir and subsequent of Aragorn fighting the uruk-hai was cool

darkwing, yeah you're right! i remember those scenes

but when i put rank something as one of the best fight scenes ever, I also consider:

1. cinematography

2. how artistic the picture looks

i prefer fight scenes that are shot from high angles and wide shots.
just like the duel in STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE.

usahay some of the time, i dont like the way the fights in LOTR are framed. makalibat. maka labad ulo.

sword fight : i have to say all fighting scenes of SAMURAI X.. though i wish it could have been much real

gun fight : definitely equilibrium, never seen such mixture of gun and hand fight before ( though i know it's just fiction )

hand to hand combat : this i have high regards to all matrix films and jet lee films.. it was nicely done, with all those innovations in terms of cinematography and effects..
