few tips to help u bro...for me thru experience i learned alot from badminton...for me bro i dont recomend you the best raquet coz it rilly depends on u bro if unsa ka comfortable sa weight gaan ba or bug-at ako since i started playing badminton last 4years ago i started mp99 which is very light rocket and a good defensive rocket coz its lyt but no matter how heavy ur raquet is if ur a good player u can almost counter the attack of ur opponent. it all matter on the wrist u have how fast u can catch the shuttle...if ur a smasher type of person u nid a heavy raquet and if ur a defensive player u nid a lyter raquet..cross courting and exhibitions are all from ur wrist how fllexible can it go... bout the string i use bg 65 coz im a smasher and my tension 28.. and by the way im using la flech raquet coz its not expensive but very strong racquet and kaya niya 30 tension....
Thanks SG! i lyk ur tips & i also beliv dat the game is best played with strong, flexible wrists & how u can control it. perhaps u can give us tips on how to improve - i still feel my wrists r strong enough but cant get a good control. worst r my smashes - my ryt arm easily wears out after a few games. I wud appreciate it very much if u cud giv sum tips plus off court exercises to follow.

i can help looking for "better" rackets given technology or gimmicks the manufacturers r placing on them nowadays (far from the wooden rackets of old). Ive seen a couple of Carltons last nyt and very tempting. Only that the promoters Gail & Robertsons lost the mixed doubles in the recent England Open - to a Korean Team. im stiking to my la fleche.

BTW didnt u notice u just gave away ur preferred rackets + tensions

follow-up question for u SG - being a smasher s ur la fleche head heavy (naive but just confirming)?

I appreciate it very much SG!

@cdburgh - thanks for the link! I will test proportional stringing on my alternate racket.

@MM - chek out that link nice inputs

    BaNGis

its vry hard to control it especially when ur not that experienced...And also i believe that if you keep on changing your tension you u wont get the control of the shuttlecock...so i prefer you to have the tension which u r comfortable in playing with.... =) the most important thing you do is Stretching b4 u play...bout ur arms for me lang ha...thru my experience and NANNING i dont mind nga mag sakit ako arms but if ever nay na hapen aw i shud give it a rest...Natural in a game ma sipyat ka sa pag hapak like ma alanganin ka or wala na tarong ug porma imu lawas that will cause alot of pain...practice ur smash slow (pa anad) and Do the walling everyday and arsa pud ug weights for ur wrist... =)....i practice walling everything..atleast 30min or 1hr a day and with that tym a also do some weights for my wrist....by the way baNGis where do you play? and by the way my la flech is not a head heavy =)

    MiddleMan...thanks sa info bro =)

If you want to strengthen your wrist and forearm (but start off slowly and always warm up!!) You can use something similar to this or make your own out of a broom handle.

    http://www.wristripper.com/

We use to train by playing badminton with Squash rackets. Or alternatively, try playing with a racket cover on, if you can find just a head cover, not that many around these days.

I remember seeing a photograph of the Chinese national team during a practice session and there was a number of squash rackets at the side of the court.

@SG - thanks for the tips especially on the gut - i will just make the best out of current equipment. as for the exercises - man i just realized i kept forgetting the basics (hairs getting grey i guess). used to do walling in our sala at the time we have fewer things there. Now with sum appliances around morag masuko gyud c mrs niini hehehe. i appreciate ur message SG!

@FH - great inputs i appreciate that! ive warmed up using the racket head covers but very seldom. the local la fleche shop here sells them. dont have a squash racket but i will try with an old tenis racket in my basement (will chek it out 2nyt)!
