    i agree with chipmunk because natural gyud na sa tao nga mojump didto sa mas dako ug offer.nganung magpakamartyr man gyud ka sa gamay nga sweldo kung naa may times three sa imong current salary nga offer.

    On the pilot issue, don't look at the pilots, look at management. That's where the real problem lies. Lucio Tan is just now recognizing that and just last week fired three top-level executives from the flight operations department. These three were behind the move to force A320 pilots to transfer to Air Philippines for lower pay. Their high-handed treatment of the pilots is well-known in the industry--pilots were effectively told they could expect within the next few months to be rendered redundant. Those rendered redundant had the choice of either being furloughed (and not being allowed to work for another local airline while they cool their heels) or accept a job at Airphil for lower pay (30% less).

    See, PAL has seen its market share eroded by Cebu Pacific. Now it wants sister company Airphil to go head-to-head with Cebu Pac. And to enable Airphil to charge low fares, they also want to pay their employees less. That includes the pilots.

    They miscalculated, badly. It's not like the pilots had no choice but to accept their fate. It's not like the pilots could be forced to take the Airphil job. It's not like Airbus-rated pilots aren't in demand the world over. An A320 type rating is coveted by other airlines.

    It's not just about money. Yes, P100,000 for a first officer and P250,000+ a month for a captain is more than enough money (don't believe the PAL press release about PAL pilots being paid P500,000, they only pay that amount to management-level pilots, the same guys responsible for this debacle). Many of the 26 pilots who resigned would've gladly stayed in the country and in the airline even if they could easily make three times that amount abroad--PROVIDED there was no threat to their long-term job security.

    Cebu Pacific pilots make slightly less than PAL pilots. All Cebu Pac pilots wish they had the benefits PAL pilots enjoy. Yet there is no mass resignation at that airline. Think about that.

    As for the pilots breaking their contracts, the company's high-handed treatment obviously meant the airline felt no moral obligation to take care of them. It was time, they felt, to look out for themselves.

    Don't believe the PAL line about training costing "P10-M" (as someone posted here) or even "millions." Those figures are grossly exaggerated. They can easily inflate training costs, from the hourly rate on the flight simulator right down to meals taken at the training center cafeteria. PAL recently lost a case where it sued a resigned pilot for reimbursement of training expenses. The court felt the airline wasn't able to prove it spent as much as it said it did on training.

    den sa POEA ingon sila mao 6months ang needed for pilots para mo resign man naaman lagi ni redundancy, what i know meaning sa redundancy daghan na gyud kaayo mo.

    and about ato gi train ang pilots worth 10million, if kaya nila pa train ang pilots with such amount why can't they give a high salary para dili mo resign?.
