Although I don't like the Ouanos personally, but this one is too much. I really hate what dyHP anchorman did accussing the daughter-in-law. Nakakita ba ang anchorman na nagjerjer silang duha?

Lesson for the day: Watch your tongue.

AFTER figuring in issues on unliquidated cash advances at City Hall and the Southeast Asian Games, Mandaue City Sports Commission Chairperson Cheryl Ouano is facing yet another hurdle.

Cheryl, daughter-in-law of Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano, recently filed a libel suit against radio dyHP anchorman Joash Dignos for allegedly maligning her in his program, “Birada”.

She was reportedly portrayed as a “whore and shameless woman, having sexual intercourse with my own father-in-law.”

“Ikaw kaning gikaingon nga chief executive nga ni jerjer og umagad (You are this chief executive who had *** with his daughter-in-law),” Dignos said in his July 17 commentary allegedly referring to Cheryl and Mayor Ouano.

She said the statements affected her as well as her family.

She was able to handle the previous issues because they were connected to her duties as a government employee.
This one, however, is tougher because it is personal.

Radio personalities Teban and Goliat, who admitted coining the term jerjer, said they didn’t mean *** when they came up with the word.

Teban, who is actually former board member Julian Daan, said the people gave meaning to the word.

Cheryl, however, thinks otherwise, saying even three-year-olds know what it means.

Now that her case is being talked about, she hopes it will serve as warning for commentators to be careful about what they say on air.

Three days after the complaint was filed, Sun.Star Cebu talked with Cheryl, who looked forward to a short trip with her kids to a northwestern town.

Although she was a little relieved, the 35-year-old mother of two said she still needs a break

it's not solely a news about Mandaue but the proposed plan for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) would have Mandaue City as its pilot area. __________________________________________________ _________________________________________________

Ouano pushes use of bus transit system

Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano will try to put forward to other local officials the establishment of a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Metro Cebu.

Ouano said the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which supports the BRT system as part of its environmental advocacy, recently asked him to be the convenor of the project in Cebu.

ADB consultant Ric Sigua made a presentation on the BRT system before local businessmen during the Mandaue Business Forum last Tuesday.

Although the project still has to be studied, Ouano is willing to make Mandaue City as its pilot area because the BRT system is just as efficient as the light rail transit (LRT) system but much cheaper and easier to maintain.

He said he will bring it up to other local officials through the Regional Development Council.

The Central Philippines Investment Program, which was approved by President Arroyo last July 21, provides for a P33-billion budget for the Metro Cebu Mass Transportation System, which involves the construction of a railway system from Talisay City to Consolacion for the first phase and from Talisay City to Carcar, and Consolacion to Danao City for the second phase.
