==got a glimpse na of a hard day's night movie...so coooooooool! thanks kaau sa nag introduce naku ani.. nice daw kaau matud pa sa akong dad..![]()
got a copy of hard day's night in my computer. the only thing i would have liked better was if John lypsnced "if I fell" better. medyo wala sa timing siya. but the film is a very good reflection of Beatlemania. i also learned the classic guitar solo of "and i love her" by watching this movie. nindot pagka-focus ang guitar playing ni george.
track list
1. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"
2. "With a Little Help from My Friends"
3. "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"
4. "Getting Better"
5. "Fixing a Hole"
6. "She's Leaving Home"
7. "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!"
8. "Within You Without You" (George Harrison)
9. "When I'm Sixty Four"
10. "Lovely Rita"
11. "Good Morning Good Morning"
12. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (reprise)"
13. "A Day in the Life"
Contrary to popular belief, the songs in "Sgt.Peppers" wasn't done systematically based on a project concept. At that time, the Beatles were already pursuing different paths after the death of manager Brian Epstien, and Paul McCartney wanted to get them back to the studio to work on an album with a concept. What he had in mind was to have songs based on band music. This concept was assumed by Beatle historians as having been influenced by Paul's background in band music - his father was a band leader.
But John presented his own compositions as did George and what resulted was still a hodgepodge of songs, completely distinct and non-connected with each other - but still an excellent collection of songs that resulted in what is unargueably the most influential album in history. The only "real" collaboration was "Being For the Benifit of Mr.Kite", which they did for Ringo.
My favorite song from this album is "A Day In A Life", which is basically two songs made into one. The verses were John's, from childhood memories of World War II. The middle eight (this is the term they used for the portion of their songs that changed pace or rythm) was Paul's - "woke up,fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my head......". John and Paul literally joined to unfinished songs because they lacked one more song for the album.
Let It Be was the last Beatle album to be released, but Abbey Road was actually the last Beatle Album they recorded. After the mayhem that was the Let It Be sessions, the Beatles came back to record a bright and fresh album, probably knowing that they were soon going to break-up the world's greates and most influential band.
"Something" by George Harrison is my favorite song from this album. He first recorded this one with session musicians but later let Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr overdub the bass and drums. The intro drum beat is typical Ringo-style. Paul also did the background vocals.
The album cover also raised a rumor that Paul McCartney has died and that was his brother, Michael, on the cover (they don't look alike). Beatle "papparrazi" said that Paul's bare feet on the over signified that he died. Thre was also a rumor that if you played the song "Penny Lane" backwards (not 100% sure if this was the song), you will hear a ghostly voice saying "Paul is dead". Ask your dad or anyone age 60 about this and they will verify it.
And here is one sad note - Paul McCartney declared that he will NEVER return to the Philippines. When the Beatles came and performed at the Araneta Stadium in Manila in 1965 (or was it 1966), they unintentionally snubbed a dinner invitation by then First Lady Imelda Marcos. She then publicly announced that the Beatles did a very rude thing to her. What happened next was embarrasing for music and Beatle fans as well as Filipinos. As the Beatles was set to leave Manila, their police escorts suddenly left them and they were "punched", "kicked" and "jabbed" at by supposed "goons" who pretended to be "fans".
