for me, if we can go to Korea and live and open shops there OK GO! But if not, here's my opinion...

Ive seen so many instances, from Golf Courses to Malls, to rented houses- to Koreans--- two word says i always hear that describes them:

BABOY and BASTOS!

let's find out first what the law states about this matter before we get into a conclusion..

General Rule – only Filipino citizens and corporations at least sixty percent of the capital of which is owned by Filipino are entitled to acquire and own land in the Philippines.
Exceptions is allowed in the following cases:

a) Acquisition before the 1935 Constitution;
b) Acquisition thru hereditary succession if the alien acquires is a legal heir.
c) Purchase of not more than forty percent interest in a condominium project.
d) Purchase by former natural-born Filipino citizens subject to the limitations prescribed by R.A. 9225).

3. A Filipino who marries an alien retains her Philippine citizenship (unless by her act or omission she is deemed to have renounced Philippine citizenship), and may therefore acquire real estate in the Philippines.

oh yes, the Constitution on national patrimony. incidentally the very same thing that gloria wants changed in favor of foreigners in her charter change initiative.

We are talking about tourism here right? It means, we will sell our country as a tourist destination...what's the problem with that? Tourism is a multi-billion dollar industry...is it bad to get a share of the pie? I wonder what the big fuss is all about...

please do not be too dense to assume that this is merely about torusim. a thread has been opened before that chewed on the idea of selling the philippines/ making it the 51 state to the united states, or united kingdom or new zealand or what not.

it is this mentality of escapism and this lack of conciousness regarding the forces that really ail us. that is precisely what i want to address here. you and others can reduce this to an issue to strictly mere tourism. sorry to say i'd rather see a bigger picture. i cannot subscribe to this frame of thought.

if you read through the various replies this thread has been getting, then i guess by now you can realize that mulling over the thought of actually and literally selling the philippines (or part of it) to Korea (or any other country) has been getting serious attention. some people are actually convinced that such an idea is a way out of our misery. it is that serious.

when u r in RP, out of hopelessness you may say its the last resort you will
do out of misery. but its not. id been in countries like hongkong and
singapore, people are so rude (esp the chinese). in middle east you are
only second class citizen. in USA the land of oppurtunity and freedom, you
