yup, pwede ra jud magamit ang Kave sa 3 output soundcard wala jud problema.. pero ang effect lang sa Kave is more on stereo sound lang since wala man magamit ang other speakers, 2 ra man ang mag tingog. even if i configure pa sa software to have a 5.1 surround effect, lahi jud ang result if magtingog ang tanan speakers sa headset..

diri ka maka ingon sayop ka sir. kay mag tingog na tanan output(of course if he plugs all sa 3-output soundcard and assigned each stream appropriately, mu prompt man na inig plug(default setting)) depende sa sound source...

basaha ang posts ni werty. if magbasa lang ka sa manual sa imo motherboard (the section regarding the onboard audio) makahibalo ka if possible ba nga maka provide na siya ug 5.1 or 7.1 output bisan ug 3 ra ang output slots.

and fineupgrade's "virtual surround system" is misleading. the 5.1 output that you'll be getting from your onboard audio (provided that the manual says that your onboard audio really supports 5.1 output) is discrete, and not virtual. the subwoofer channel (the .1 in 5.1 or 7.1) is non-directional, that is way gi-pair ni siya sa center channel mao kakuha gihapon ug discrete 5.1 audio output using 3 output slots.

bottomline, read the manual. and TS, unsa man diay motherboard nimo. asa man ani ang model sa imo Via HD onboard audio (VIA Vinyl HD Audio Codecs - VIA Technologies, Inc.).

btw, i have an Asus P7H55M-LX

your onboard audio supports 5.1 channel output, just follow the configuration instructions. if nahan ka mo-take advantage sa EAX enabled games (List of video games that support EAX - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), you can buy the creative soundcard.

Not really, on-board solutions these days have "reprogrammable" jacks with just 3 ports he can still have this real 5.1 output but wont be able to make use of the mic probably unless he routes an extension cable to the front I/O ports..

i dont really need the mic function, as long as ma 5.1 lang xa, bisan less less lang than having a dedicated soundcard
