I'd like to reply to some of the questions raised in this thread.
This is applicable to everybody, not only to the one who asked.
--------
"one thing lang gyud nga nakabati ani dri is timing-timing lang gyud...
kung matimingan ka, bugha unlike sa uban mga forums, consistent kaau ang mga mods...
wa gyuy maka lusot..."
It's not really a "timing-timing" basis.
As what I have been saying many times, the ratio of online moderators and online members is
1:160.
Kung kamo moderator, how could you manage to moderate at that ratio?
There are approximately 3,000 online users in istorya, 500+ members and 1500+ guests.
New threads and new replies are sprouting everywhere every second.
Every now and then a violation is committed buried in the threads.
Kamo kuno'y monitor ana kaya ba ninyo?
And we're not hired to stay in front of the pc watching the forum all day, we also participate in the discussions just like you do.
That's why we really need your cooperation, read and put the rules in your mind so that next time you encounter a violation you will recognize it and click the report button.
Again, kung natagaan ka infraction, it's not because gisundan ka sa mods, it's not because gidumtan ka, it's not because you were being handpicked.
It's because somebody reported you.
"i hope mumake ug thread ang mga moderators and site keepers about "to watch out specific threads" because it's not easy to get an infraction"
The are no specific threads to watch out for.
Site-wide Forum Rules apply to the entire board.
No matter where the thread is located, the rules are implemented.
On some subforums, there are local rules, these are additional rules for that specific subforum only.
"Mao gyud bai..mga uban moderators diri gara kau..abi kay moderator.mao ra pud.
nigawas gyud ang pagka pinoy abi kay naa sa position..maghinambog dayon..there are some and some also are not. "
Moderators have different personalities.
Naay hilumon naa pud vocal kaayo.
Kung ang iyang pag gara-gara nagpataka nalang hatag infraction nga wala masubay sa rules, you can contact the administrator and report him.
Pero kung gi-close ang imong topic for some obvious reason, it's not gara-gara.
"hmmm question lang... is there a real or shall I say an official mod evaluation? na pud bai mod nga na infract so far for "misbehaving" in the forum? "
If a certain mod has caused trouble by indiscriminate firing sa iyang machine gun, di pud tingali na ibalewala sa admin.
"perhaps we could understand the hardships on how he/she got his mod status mau nga it's either buotan kaayo siya or salbahes kaayo..cguro makaingon mi na.."ah mao diay buotan/salbahes na si mod___________ kai grabe diay na syag naagian when he/she was just applying or chosen to become a mod."
Becoming a moderator is not through application letter or resume.
Ang mga admin ra ang magsabotsabot between themselves kung angay ba nga magpuno ug moderator and who to pick.
There are no initiations, no hardships.
The personality of a moderator is due to his own personality.
Kung hambog siya manulti, it's not because nagsalig siya moderator siya, hambog lang jud siya manulti.
Ngano man lagi naay may daghan regular member mga hambog diri di man na sila moderator?
Kung hambugiro ko motubag, mao na ang akong character with or without the status of being a moderator.
Kung bugnaw akong sinultian, ana jud na siya on or off screen.
You only need to remember one thing: the moderator is just the same as you and me, his moderator status only turns on when he gives an infraction or locks a thread, other than that he is just posting as an ordinary member.
"kay sa akoang tan-aw noh..dapat cguro naa moi unified approach or steps on how to deal with offenders kai sa akoang tan-aw lahi2x man mog style tanan sa pag disiplina sa mga new ug old members..ang isa kai in your face kaayo within minutes if he/she decides that your thread should vanish in his section or should be moved in another section then without ever telling the TS wagtang dayon or balhin dayon ang uban kai mu pm pa sa TS ug notice para proper jd ang uban sad diretso dayon ug latigo ug mga sarcastic ug snide na comments in disguise of a very flowery english sentence.."
We have our own ways of moderating the forum.
What's important is that we must understand the rules when we enforce them.
If it is written in the rules that you are not allowed to advertise your items outside the buy and sell section, then you are liable for infraction when you do it.
If one moderator warns you without giving you an infraction then that is his own decision, but that does not mean that if the other moderator gives you an infraction he is abusing his power.
Yes we have a unified basehanan, the rules, mao na ang basehanan sa tanan nga violation, it's written by the admins and mao na ang among kodigo.
"my suggestion also if there are members that needs to have infraction we have to request and deliberate before giving an infraction. There should be a consulting body to decide and for the member also to defend his or her side."
There is no need for a consulting body.
The rules are there for basis on giving infractions.
The logic is simple, violation means infraction.
If a suspected violation is reported, the moderator checks the reported posts, then decides if it has really violated the rules.
Example, in Buy & Sell forum, naay rule nga bawal ang mag hijack sa thread.
The TS is selling an iphone, then you post a reply gusto nimo ibaligya pud imong iphone.
Does that need a consulting body?
Ang atoa nga rules diri sayon ra kaayo sabton, so it means dali ra pud kaayo mahibaw-an kung naa bay violation or wala.
No need to deliberate, unless it's a special case that needs admin intervention.
--------
By the way, regarding the rule about moderators to be treated with utmost respect, I don't care about that. You can curse me anytime I won't ban or mute you. If i gave you an infraction based on the written rules, then the infraction stays until it expires. But if along our argument I realized that I have mistakenly penalized you, that infraction will be removed right away.
