    ^^

Right. That's one of my point actually.

I don't see it as a doctored figure. In fact during the time of FVR, our GNP Per Capita was already around $1,100... And now GMA has announced that it's $1,400... That's a growth of only around $300 for almost a decade! Very, very small compared to what China and even Vietnam are experiencing now.

If it were doctored and propaganda, GMA could have easily said that it's already $4,000 or higher.

Now, this should really make us proud.

After all, we have been considered as a third world country ever since. With the present rise with regard to our economic situation, our country is now considered a second world country. With this, the goal to be a first world country come 2020 would not be really a far-fetched idea.

Hey crab! Why don't you work harder for the good of our country rather than bickering?

According to other forums, she should not mention "Second World Country" because its already an obsolete term (the good old days of Cold War). She should mention as NIC (Newly Industrialized Country).

...The peso rose as far as 49.95 per dollar, breaking the key 50-level...

Peso hits high, Asian currencies dip with yen

Current Philippine Peso value for today October 2, 2006 is P 50.00 (flat). What can we say? But prices still high in the market. Taxi fares and jeepney fares wala nag discount though ang prices sa oil came down this week for over a dollar.

This is bad news for us OFW's, last time I checked a $100 I sent would be around 5,300 in exchange. Now I have to send much more for the same amount ... better work harder, more overtime ..hehe

Resorting to name calling only exposes your lack of understanding of the issue. An indepth study of the topic & a little finesse in your delivery is in order & a step in the right direction. As for stating that RP is now an NIC, I can only say..."What have you been smoking, dude?"
