Rehashed accusations! Only Catholics can really understand their love and devotion to the holy mother of God, Theotokos, Mary. Catholics and former Catholics, brainwashed by their "new pastors a.k.a. religion, who doubt and question this Marian devotion are no Catholics at all .. kay wa man sila kasabot sa role ni Mary sa ilang spiritual nga kinabuhi. Take note, spiritual life, ug dili salvation, for only Jesus saved the world by dying on the cross and rising again... but, Mary's yes to the invitation of the Angel Gabriel to be the mother of the Word, made possible the advent of our salvation. And her YES was a total, unchanging Yes to the Father's Will .. like Jesus said: " if you do my Father's Will, I and the Father will come to you and the Father and I will dwell in you ..."
True catholics do not worship Mary .. they love Mary as a mother ..real mother .. how they show that love and devotion is their business ... I am just amused why "former catholics born agains, etc..." would impose themselves on how we, catholics, express our love and devotion to our Mother. After all she is a mother to us ... we catholics are not orphans .. we have a mother! If I take care .. touch ... pray before the Icon of my Mother Mary, so what .. I am expressing my love and devotion .. and it is not fair for others to interpret it as Idolatry!

wa ko ngita ug lalis sir, just sharing some inputs from experience coz i believe that there is only one God that we should worship and also that ideology to sa katong painter... na relate ra nako sa kato gsulti sa topic bout idolatry..
i've experienced man pud gud before kato religion class namo nya ang amo teacher kay sister from sto '...' she told us a story bout people in purgatory wanting to go to heaven, she stated that God did not permit these persons to enter the gates of heaven but then she told us that when the people prayed to mary she offered a rope for the people to climb through... -unsa kaha masabtan nimo ani nga story?

para lang nako sir we are free to worship whoever we want but there is only one God...

Sorry, but my post did not, in even slightest impression, demeaned the Death of the Lord and His Rising. Jesus is the only Savior, and all Catholics know that by heart. As Paul would say, Jesus died that all maybe saved! Now, Mary's role in the spiritual life of every Catholic should not be interpreted by "non" Catholics as "idolatry" .. Mary is the Mother of Jesus .. and so, I can also call her my mother as Jesus is a brother to me ...
Your religion teacher, even though a Sister, may have her good intentions in telling that story .. but may have been lacking in trying to explain it ... precisely because it can breed confusion in the faith.
Peace! I just want to explain .. not in any way to argue. I always fight people who in one way or another call me, P.I.M. or Hijo de P...! Why, because I have to defend the honor of my mother, the best of all mothers; The same is true when people of other denominations ridicule the Blessed Virgin ..
