what if.....disable all background running apps that are not in use...i guess ure using vista....
run-msconfig-startup-disable all background running apps...
uninstall all unwanted apps
update antivir
scan
defrag
then test again...i guess this is the most basic before u tinker your hardware

you can change you os to win 7 bec you laptop is supported just backup your files first
