It wouldn't matter if they didn't believe in Jesus in the old testament because has Jesus has not yet come but it was through the animal sacrificial system that God ordained for them to be forgiven of their sins but these animal sacrificial system was not the real or true sacrifice but a symbol of accepting Christ sacrifice in the future in effect their sins were forgiven because of these.
However in the new testament Jesus has come. Since the Sacrifice was done we need to accept this sacrifice of Jesus and the old covenant which is the animal sacrificial system was abolished since it has been fullfiled. Like what i said In the new testament the true sacrifice which is Jesus has come so we only need to accept Jesus and this true sacrifice as a free gift of salvation.
I didn't say that it wouldn't matter if we believe in Jesus or not in this age.
If you are concerned about people not able to hear the word of God This is the a question of how widespread is christianity and of the old prophets.
Sin by bible definition is the transgression of the law.

1. GOD is the OBJECT of WORSHIP
Hello Brod,
Hope this link will shed us a deeper understanding of the doctrine of the trinity.
Trinity: Fact or Fiction? - Part 1
Yes, this doctrine is a bit confusing if we really don't know the truths behind it. Even Thomas at first didn't believe that HE (Jesus) was God incarnate and only after He resurrected.
Joh:20:25: The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
Joh:20:26: And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Joh:20:27: Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
Joh:20:28: And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Joh:20:29: Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Joh:20:30: And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
In the concept of the Trinity Doctrine, We can visualize the bigger picture of this whole thing of creation and God's eternal plan of salvation.
