dual core would be fine. but go for latest model. also check your motherboard CPU list for compatibility.

BTW unsa ni nga model sa P4? If socket 775 ni nga P4 naay duha ka klase ni, the latest kay more efficient in terms of heat and power consumption.
You can vouch for the P4 if you're still using threaded apps and apps that doesn't utilize more than a core. But when games and apps comes into play that benefits from having more cores w/c is common nowadays, the P4 cannot cope up with the newer E2140. Clock for clock walay match na even if taas iya clock speed.
