it was meant to confuse the readers in the first place, i guess.

the answer is 2.....
it follows the MDAS rule and always work first on numbers that are inside the (),{},[] groupings..hehehe...mdas = multiply, divide, add, subtract
una ang parenthesis, way lalis.. pero ang MDAS dli mana strictly multiplication una, division second.. same order na sila.. bale ingon ani pagprocess:
1. solve ang nasa sud sa parenthesis, bracket, etc etc
2. MD or DM
3. AS or SA
gihimo ra nang MDAS para sayon timan-an..
therefore i conclude ambiguous pagbutang ang equation, therefore duha ka possible answers..
bitaw, pangutana mog math majors oi.. =D
2 man tingali answer ani. hehe
if you are a computer programmer and you code that equation, whatever language you use the result would be 288.
Not to mention, the people who made the computer language are more than math major.
Even if you try that equation in excel, the same way as it is given, the result would be 288.
the problem is you don't compute it after college, you have it in high school, and in high school, you are definitely NOT a computer programer
