Haven't we showed you some projects that have already materialized the south and north coastal road were all part of the MCDP project which had already materialize. What other proof are you looking for? It might take some time for projects to materialize but it is indeed happening. A journey of a thousand miles, alwasy begin with a single step.

Why not read this post and weep...https://www.istorya.net/forums/index.php?topic=42580.0

There are 3 types of people.

    1. Those who work and try to change the world around them.
    2. Those who stand by the side and watch the world change around them.
    3. Those who stand by the side and try to dissuade those in group 1 in changing the world.

Which group do you think do you belong? I feel so so sad for you.

I'm extending my invitation to you, why don't you come to Cebu and help us achieve this dream? There's more to what we can contribute than talk about what's missing. You can't accomplish anything if you just let your mouth talk, and certainly can accomplish nothing if you complain about everything.

I'm a proud volunteer, though I live and work outside of this country, I always make it to a point to contribute somehow in my own little ways - something to uplift the lives of fellow cebuanos. Recently meron kaming na donate na 10 computers for an upland baranggay high school, nung una kasi these students don't even know what a computer looks like, now they have another research tool they can use at their library. The're still a lot that needs to be done - like educating the teachers on this technology. I too am concerned of the poor, but just like what's been said, "teach them to fish and they won't ask food from you no more". So if you're really concerned about all this development is going to displace the poor, try to think in your own little ways, things which may give them jobs someday.

The government is not sleeping on the job, but are we just goin to sit on the sides and do nothing? Don't tell me about you're an honest tax payer crap coz most of us are payin our dues too, but there is more you can help. Let's all try to be at bisdakgyud's group one, be proactive - we're the catalyst for change, we alone can change this country, and we do that NOT by changing the government, but by changing OURSELVES.

Thanks to you for challenging me, personally I have a Cebu Master Plan on my own too. Something more realistic that I can achieve, and this is to put up IT centers at remote baranggay HS, 30% of the plan is done. I knew this well, this is the industry where I'm from. And with more effort, this can be achieved soon.

Now I'll return the challenge back to you ...

So if you'd like to help, I can give you the NGO's contact number and a volunteer group whom I have been working with. Time for "Talk the talk and walk the walk" I should say ...

That is why Cebu needs to Market the SRP fast!! the more investments, more taxes collected and with improved tax collection, the faster the next stage of development can become viable. Another venue is to improve tourism, the more tourist who spend their money here, the better it is for Cebu. The LRT funding I think is from the national government. This does not happen overnight, it comes in stages, and will take years in the making.

Ang atong ika-tampo aron matuman ni tanan, is to pay our taxes religiously, mangayo gyud ug resibo. Dili ta mag hugaw2x, hunungon na ang pag vandal2x, kung istudyante maningkamot pag ayo aron mahimong competent sa trabaho - the better and more equiped are the workforce, the more investors, and so on .... So maningkamot tang tanan .. makuha ra na sa Cebu ang funding ana ...

@kolz: wat NGO are you connected? Anyway, I am not giving alibis here but I doubt if a small NGO like you could achieve on your own this grandiose master plan.

I could work for an NGO but in other area of specialty like that of farmers and fishermen. Although I like to join you there in Cebu, there are more people in the rural areas that need help and its where our efforts should be focused.

Going to Cebu to realize your small plan is a futile exercise. Who will listen to us. All the businessmen and the politicians care there is money, investments, infrastructure. Our small voice will be drown by their elitist notion of development.

Anyway, thanks for the invitation but I prefer to stay in my barrio and help my fellows here.

It sounds like you're being pessimistic again, I suggest you work first and evaluate the results, rather than evaluating your percieved outcome without even working it out first.

The NGO that I'm connected with are planning to be registered with SEC. Indeed it was a small foundation we've setup from a group of volunteers and IT practitioners here, we're small, and our plan is not grandiose, the master plan is to help 3 baranggay high schools set up a computer lab and connect to the internet via smart bro wifi. We never knew we were able to source out the funding for this, but thanks to some generous individuals, we're able to setup 2 baranggay HS with 5 computers for each lab. I'm currently shelling out my own money to pay for the smart bro wifi for one of the labs. Overall completion is now almost 60%. If you think we can't make it, its your own pessimistic opinion.

This is probably the only optimistic view I got from you. The computer labs we've setup are in the mountain baranggays, you're right this is where our efforts should be focused.

Our voice is small, yes - then we shouldnt be doing the talking. Coz if we do, nobody will hear us. Let our accomplishments and achivements do the talking, and that would be much louder. Lead the way, and the rest will follow.

Sure thing! I'm from Cebu, so I'd do my stuff here also. Start with something small.. and don't be pessimistic like you've always been. There's still more you can do to help.

OT: kolz, that's a pretty cool thing you guys are doing. maybe you can open another thread and give us some details on how and what somebody should do if they want to help your group. maybe I've got some stuff that might be of use to them HS kids. and with iSTORYA's nature of helping others, maybe it's members here can share their time in helping educate the teachers with the proper use of those systems for free. I'm sure you'll get a lot of positive response as soon as you provide us with links. thanks in advance.
Shut Up! Let your GAME do the talking!

Ang nakaparat man gud ni istoryador (aka mosimos, snmp) kay pessimistic, masking unsaon balihon pa na ang mga pulong iyang gipangyawyaw. Also, she/he wants Cebu to meddle Manila. Dude, what's the point of meddling Manila that we are too busy builiding our masterplan to reality? I don't care what the (insert your favorite expletive) is Manila or MalacaƱang or Mendiola or Batasang Pambansa are doing.

If you want progress istoryador (aka mosimos, snmp), STOP BEING A CRAB BECAUSE IN THE END, YOU WILL BE BOILED AND EATEN BY CEBUANOS.

    -----------------------------

Speaking of Cebu Master Plan, the implementation cannot be done overnight. It will take days, month, or even years to fulfill the plan. And of course, plan is a plan, it meant to be aborted or rescoped.

So for those who are impatient and pessimistic, I suggest issue a passport and get out of here.
