I think the best Walk'round Lens in the market today is the Nikon 18-200mm F3.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S VR DX Zoom-Nikkor.

walkaround lens... something like you can use it anytime anywhere (from WIDE to TELEPHOTO)... "VERSATILE"... i would agree with Ian, 18-200 VR...
with the EF 28-300 3.5-5.6L... reviews aren't good, heavy(not an issue) and very expensive (this one's a big issue)... image quality is not that great too... still 18-200 VR is better for me.... see? dili ko biased sa Canon.. hehe...

yup...since there's really nothing comparable from canon, i chose the wide end rather the long and always have my 17-40 as my walkaround....

ang akong mga zoom ako ng gibaligya kay bug-atan ra ko..
