having a degree is not a guarantee to be successful... if you will be successful employee its still limited until 60 years old.. -what if you reached 90?

-is your job permanent? how about our basic needs? food,shelter,etc..
-who are we making reach? are we worth the pay for our job?
-would you like to work until your 60's?
-are you prepared if you lose your job?

*if you choose your temporary job to sustain your permanent needs to you and your love one's....ISN'T IT RISKY..

Education(or college degree) is Very important bai but dili na mao ang ultimate solution..ang importante ikaw nga naghunahuna og nagplano..Diploma is you back-up incase masipyat ka sa imo business..while imo business(or investing) will be your back-up if taktak ka sa imo work...having only one (plus without savings pajud) is indeed Very Risky...Just My 2 cents...

most pipol nga mu skol sa college, ang hunahuna inig graduate kay mu work and become employees.. swerte if they become employers themselves.. for most, they will just be employees all their lives.

@ walker (TS): nice man ta ang imo gi post bai..their are insights nga makat-onan...but in real life scenario bai, would you really risk your kid's future? ok ra ta to sa mga DATU daan kay naa may negosyo ang ginikanan nga makasalbar, what if sa mga common nga tao? if magnegosyo ka, kinsa man ang imong i-hire di ba college grads man (like CPAs)?

having a college degree is our tool, our window, our back-up..we all dream of becoming rich bai, maong grabe ka stiff ang atong competition of achieving that. the challenge is how do you escape this rat race?
i dont think that the answer is merely skipping college. it is being creative on what you have. it is learning from experience on a certain field (work/profession), the hunger to learn more, then being opportunistic (not in a bad way).i think maong daghan nadatu bai, because they were hungry (money, power, it's up to them) & they had the drive. but i maybe walay nadatu sa college...nadatu na sila sa effects sa pagskwela sa college.. again, it is a tool..it's up to us how we use the tool... nice thread by the way...

At my current state of mindset, if I'd go back 10 years ago and given the chance to get a college degree or just skip school and do whatever I want, I would still opt to go to school and at the same time do the things that I love. Whether we like it or not, having a degree is really something and if we notice, though there are people who succeeded in life without having any degree, in fact some haven't even finished elementary, the number of very successful people have college degrees or at least reached college level.

School doesn't only teach academics but also the skills and values necessary to succeed in life. Of course we can learn it outside school but why skip the chance if you already had it in your hands? Waste of time and money? College is not just all about learning and spending time in school, it is also a chance and a time to discover and start different things. That is the reason why we should do the things that we love while going to school. First, it won't make school boring, and second, it won't make your life dull. If you love sports, apply for the varsity team. If you love something else, go do it, hone your skills and be good.

A college degree is not something that should dictate our lives. Many people think that just because they had a certain degree they should only work in that specific field. Wrong. College degree is only a failsafe when things go wrong, at least you've got something to back you. In choosing a career path and even in choosing a degree, go for something that you're really interested with. That will make school fun and in the long run, provide you a good career.

Take the opportunity to go to school. You never know when you'll need it.

Having a College Degree does not guarantee that you will be successful but it is one of the means to be successful. Besides being successful is very subjective and it depends how do you define success.

Katong mo-ingon na college is a waste ba, you have obviously not tried to apply for a job before you graduate in college, mapa-dato or dili.

Anak ko sa usa ka entrepreneur, among business kay mga 15 years na ug medyo naay kaya. My parents were employees before. Sure, I could have left college and helped in the business and ventured to open a different business. Basin mas nadato pa ko compared to what I am right now, employed instead of employer ug dili kaayo dako ang sweldo pero ok ra kay kapit man ko sa parents.

But why did I really insist on finishing college? Before in my college days, there came a period na thesis nalang gyuy kuwang para mo-graduate ko. Di ko pwede ka-enroll kay ni-agi na ang enrollment period and I have to wait for 7-9 months para sa sunod na batch sa thesis.

So I decided to find a job and see if my current credentials will cut butter while waiting.

I looked around for job openings, ang requirements kay college graduate. Coupled pa with some jobs that require 2 years of work experience. I tried Xlibris pero I failed kay nag-danghag ko. I tried some companies pero di sila modawat ug dili college grad. Pero ingon ang usa nako ka friend na bisag successful ang iyang business, he wants to be an employee pud because it's nice to be the underdog.

Wala gyud ko kitag trabaho at that period. Instead I helped nalang in the business. Now try comparing me to someone na walay business ug walay kwarta. Asa man ka mangitag trabaho? What if di gyud ka kahuman ug skwela? Asa man kag kwarta?

Then I graduated, and found a job that I love. But like everybody said here, kanya-kanya ra nag diskarte but never ignore college.
