roads will close 2 hours before every passage of heads of state, so guys, better make plans for your transpo and such... NO ONE ALLOWED ON THE ROAD (where the delegates will pass) TWO HOURS BEFORE THEY PASS! this probably means morning and evening.... this will have a major effect on our traffic situation....
also, those who plan to go into mactan (i dont know if this applies to other areas) had better submit their application to the police already... they will be issuing IDs, and those without will probably need to stay out or have a really hard time getrting in...
Roads will be full of cops, NO-FLY-ZONES will be established (with shoot-down orders for any rogue aircraft), the seas will be patrolled... Cops will be tense, so better to have all the necessary requirements before those dates, so you guys dont have a hard time travelling to and from work... I myself have already handed in my application for the ID which includes a 2x2 pic and fingerprints...
aside from this, let us all be vigilant, as terrorists will be sure to take advantage of this situation... please input the COUNTER TERRORIST UNIT phone numbers that are posted at https://www.istorya.net/forums/index.php?topic=96529.0 into your cellphones, and keep an eye out for suspicious packages, persons, activities, etc. at your workplace and neighborhood.
It's up to us to help our beloved CEBU move forward and reap the rewards of this coming ASEAN...
A terrorist attack will only drive us deeper into economic problems that will affect each and every one of us.
i think they have rehabilitated the mandaue overpass already... as for other areas, no idea yet...Originally Posted by SamuraiArcher

does that mean we'll experience those inconvenience for 7 days or so? Asean sked is Dec 11-14 right? plus one day allowance each before and after the event for arrival/departure of delegates? I guess we'll just plan for R&R someplace during those dates...

ASEAN SUMMIT: PNP top brass officials inspect security measures
The Freeman 09/22/2006
The third highest-ranking official of the Philippine National Police visited Cebu yesterday to inspect the security preparations for the 12th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit this December.
Police Deputy Director for Operations Isidro Lapeña first visited the Lapu-Lapu City Police Station where he addressed around 700 Field Training Personnel deployed in the city.
From there he proceeded to the Mandaue City Police Office where he inspected the FTPs assigned there. Mandaue City is where the summit will take place. Seventeen heads of state are expected to attend the summit as well as hundreds of diplomats.
Lapeña told reporters that FTPs will be issued with firearms soon and more vehicles for the police will arrive in a few days.
Aside from this the Mandaue City government announced that FTPs assigned to the city will be given a P500 allowance per month, Cebu City has reportedly pledged a P1,000 monthly allowance to the FTPs assigned there.
