^ Well, Cebu's economy has been the source of it's fame as a City. What else would matter? Good governance? Cebu City's economy would not become booming if the leaders are not good. What else would you use to measure a city's progress? Cleanliness? Ecology?

Sige nalang ko'g balik ani da...... Davao is indeed clean, limpyo kaayo but does it reflect the economy of Davao? Again, DVO is similar to a COMMUNIST CITY, it is clean but the income and the economic activity of the people and the business sector does not reflect it's cleanliness. Peaceful? Yes it is but do not neglect the existing fact that the government has been using SECRET means of maintaining that peace. I don't want to live in a City where your life is at risk of being shot dead on the street for just littering or throwing garbage anywhere.

Terrorist safe? No, Cebu is much safer from terrorism than Davao. A terrorist can get into Cebu through only TWO WAYS, either they get a ship or use an airplane but would that make sense? Cebu has no land border with anybody, the sea is our shield. Unlike Davao which like manila is a trans-regional hub for an island of big area. Anyone can get across the border of Davao either through the Port, Airport or the Bus Terminal and more especially, you're the nearest big City from the Abu Sayaff and MILF strongholds. Of course businessmen would fear investing in Davao because they really can't get a guarantee of the safety of their business there since the War is still ongoing.

My heart is in between these two as I was born in Cebu but grew up in Davao. I'm a job hopper who works in Cebu this year and Davao next year and so on. So, let's take the brighter side of life. Let's count on the best things that Cebu and Davao can offer. Not on the negative side.

-Kolehiyalas (USC, USJR, STC, Velez)-the best!
-Municipality of Catmon (naturally beautiful, year 2000 was my last time to be there hehe)
-Bantayan Island (Sta. Fe, Budyong)
-Crown Regency Hotel
-Cebu International Convention Center
-Badian
-Sacred Heart Parish and Sacred Heart Center at D. Jakosalem St.

-best nightlife

-state of the art traffic signalization (with CCTVs,coordinated with 911)
-very clean, very safe
-strict enforcement of laws (smoking ban, firecracker ban, spitting ban, 2 am liquor ban)
-malls are sprouting like mushrooms over the last 2 years(ayala, sm lanang (2nd sm), nccc lanang, gaisano toril, starmall, etc.)
-best beach destinations (Pearl Farm, Maxima, Talikud, Dahican)
-best upland destinations (Seagull Mountain Resort, Eden, Villa de Mercedes,)
-ziplining (Camp Sabros 820m (2nd longest in Asia), Outland Adventure 720m, Zip City 310m)
-Wake boarding (Deca - largest in the Phil)
-water rafting (better than in Cagayan de Oro)
-Crocodile Park and Philippine Eagle Center
-People's Park (best public park in the Phil)
-Mt. Apo
-abundance of fruits and vegetables
-coffee culture (almost 200 coffee shops)
-Mt. Apo Gardens (Calinan)
-Kolehiyalas (Ateneo, San Pedro College, PWC) but Cebu has an edge!
-Banana republic (Top exporter of bananas in the Phil - Tadeco, Dole, Sumifru)

I love these two places because i go back and forth from time to time. It's hard to choose one. One complements the other. But it would be Davao over Cebu because Davao is catching up on the economy but Cebu is not catching up on the cleanliness and peace and order aspects.

interesting thread. Lisod for me to choose between davao & cebu. I have heard about Duterte & quite frankly I admire the man. I could say that Tommy is a little bit similar but mas luag lang (maybe coz of CHR). One member of this thread mentioned that we aren't talking about economy diri nga thread, which i beg to differ (no offence meant). Economy is part of the reason why we move (or why we prefer living in a certain place over the other). para sa mga tao nga wa pajud kaadto sa davao(like myself), i would like ask the following:

1)sayon ba mangita og work diha sa Davao? Unsay kosug nga industry diha?
2)how about cost of living sa Davao, taas ba? Pila ang Minimum sweldo diha?
3) Is it (more) affordable to Buy or build a house in Davao than Cebu?

i know Davao is a great place & it is know for disciplined people (or maybe Good Governance). I hope someone can share.TIA
