On a fateful night of Friday, January 28, 2011, my officemates and I trekked the unfamiliar route to Open Mic with fervent hopes of unwinding and relaxing, as it was essentially an anti-flat out, team building party. Coming directly from work, we got there on time albeit hungry and tired.

When the clock stroke 6, we were excited for what we thought would be a sumptuous feast of the food that we ordered. But when it turned 6:15, we weren't surprise they were not on time. Then 6:30...then 6:45... It just seemed like the time kept on and on while our hungry disposition worsened by the minute...

Until finally it was past 7 pm and we still didn't get our food, I approached one of the personnel and asked what's taking them long to serve our food, her reply stunned me to death:

"Wala pa man moy gi-order, sir"

Flashback six days ago, we paid for our reservation. Then three days ago, Tuesday, I called Open Mic and apparently the personnel told me that it was the owner who answered my phone call. During the call, I specifically asked that the food be served at 6 pm because I was sure we were going to be terribly hungry by then. He even recommended a set menu and we took it because it seemed cost-effective and appropriate for our number.

The following Wednesday night, I called back to iron the preparations. I wanted to make sure our food and drinks were ready when we arrive. Again, I specifically pointed out that dinner be served at 6. He said that's okay. He even asked me again if it was 6 and I said yes. He said it's great that I ordered beforehand so that they can prepare. When I was about to add something else, he dropped the phone. WTF. I dialed again and told him that I haven't ordered our specific drinks yet, this time he told me we can order our drinks when we get to the venue.

"Ang importante ang pagkaon nga lutuun kay e-prepare pa," he said and then dropped the phone twice. I should have seen that coming.

So going back to Friday, the personnel and the cook tried to cover for the owner's utter disappointment and complete negligence. They told me they weren't advised about our orders. Someone even approached me and asked if we made our reservation. tsk. So they hurriedly cooked our food from scratch at way past seven and we were able to eat at around 8, which was like 2 hours late. By then I was already severely embarrassed by my officemates because I was held responsible for everything. I shrunk further when I learned that they only had two types to drink. Epic Fail. But it didn't really matter, by those times we could have eaten and drunk anything because we were already supremely famished.

I texted the owner and asked him why he didn't tell his staff to prepare our food so they could have served it at 6. No reply. I tried calling him, but he never responded. I didn't want to contact him again. I was just flabbergasted by the sheer display of arrogance and unapologetic irresponsibility.

I asked one of his personnel if this same case of neglect happened before, and she said it was the first time. Wey? But really, I wonder.

    Tuesday
    Triple Celebration with the Niners
(bee day, christmas shindig and surprise engagement party)

My friends and I had a blast when we had our first privy party in Open Mic!
Great place, SUPERB FOOD! (compliments to the chef!) and definitely exceptional personalized service from the staff and crew
We never had any regrets having our first shindig in OM!
Definitely it won't be our last

    Thanks Sir Ian!

(as for the comments aired here, it's best to place your orders an hour in advance so they can serve you well... true enough when we ordered ahead of time, we didn't have any probs at all with their service... I believe in every given privy parties, as a client, you have to assert or make clear with the owner/staff what you want to happen on that special event so you both can meet halfway and end up having a blast in your party... )
