^yes it has been proposed by DEP.ED already, bro. gibalita to sa TV Patrol.

di ba we are behind other countries coz we only have 4 years in HS whereas other countries have middle school (3 years) and high school (3 years). when we go to australia, required ta to take another 2 years in college maski graduate na ta diri pinas. then call center agents here and caregivers abroad are required to have at least taken 2 years in college coz this is equivalent to HS graduate level.

6-year HS graduates can then work in call centers and other general skill jobs. College graduates will handle supervisory/management positions.

OT : Dont know about other countries but in the US , they require you to get a GED and not years of schooling to complete the requirement .

    Default Irrelevant jud

Murag i felt like I'm in paradox with this thread.

As a student (myself): Di ko ganahan on some of the minor subjects. Imagina history 1 nako katolo nako gikuha. ako english 2 kaduha. I was an engineering student then. nawad an kog gana.

Back then, naa mi spanish class (for 2 semesters i think) but it was an option, so we never took it (obviously). But at hindsight, I wish i did. As a medical practioner and is eyeing for greener pastures (green as in dollars). I know it is very essential since many patients are hispanics.

As an instructor (myself). I realized that there are things that are "not that" relevant, in a sense (like you guys said) can be taken up strongly in high school (para gamay sad tuition in college). For me, high school years should strongly emphasize with the basics esp our culture as filipinos (including rizal subject).

but to strike the balance, College professors majoring on these subjects (almost not always), teaches better than the high school teachers who did not major on these subjects. For us to better understand who we are (as a filipino and as a person) more than what we do (say an engineer or a nurse); college professors can do the job better ( i don't know if you agree).

I realized as a teacher, That one of our responsibilty is to make something irrelevant, relevant in any field. For example, in the field of nursing. If only the instructor of medsurg has strong foundations on chemistry and physics, man I tell you students learn better and appreciate physics and chemistry more. If the psychology instructor teaches better, even engineering students appreciate this when they are on the field (we know that engineering doesn't only deals with designing but also people and business),

In conclusion, I agree with you guys that CHED should look and study the system again, the world is already changing and we are stocked on our old paradigm.

If these subjects must stay I hope they revise it, and the connections between subjects should be progressing but related (it can be done) .
