Some tips (for those who didn't see the earlier post):

    1. Plan those trips.
    2. Use more efficient cars.
    3. Maintain older cars properly (they can be very efficient too).
    4. Bicycles for short trips.
    5. Car pools.
    6. Load gas at night.
    7. Park in the shade
    8. Instead of idling to warm up, travel the first few hundred meters in low gear.
    9. Avoid jackrabbit starts.
    10. Don't race on the streets; leave that for the track.

Iran ready to supply more oil, says envoy

IRAN assured the Philippines yesterday that it would do its best to prevent a possible oil crisis that might result from its standoff with the United Nations Security Council over its nuclear testing.

Iranian ambassador to Manila Jalal Kalantari said his government was committed to maintaining and strengthening its bilateral relations with the Philippines.

Iran’s “peaceful’ uranium-enrichment program was “purely civilian and will never be diverted from civilian use,” he told reporters.

Iran is the second largest producer among member states of the Organization of Oil Exporting Countries. It sold $995 million worth of crude to the Philippines last year, Kalantari said.

“We are doing our utmost so that unnecessary crises do not happen in the region,” he said, adding Iran was ready to supply more oil to the Philippines. Ferdinand Fabella

Oil firms cut prices anew by P1/liter

The country’s oil companies rolled back anew the prices of their gasoline products by P1 per liter yesterday.

Unlike the previous oil price reduction where only prices of gasoline products were rolled back by P1 per liter, the oil firms, this time, also brought down the price of their diesel products by 50 centavos per liter.

But the oil firms decided to keep the price of their liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or cooking fuel at current levels.

The oil companies said they reduced their prices again to reflect in the domestic front the lowering of petroleum prices in the world market.

"Due to weakening of international oil prices, we rolled back our pump prices," Petron public affairs manager Virginia Ruivivar said.

^ The price of oil per barrel is going down.

This coupled with a stronger peso we are currently experiencing are factors which makes the price of oil cheaper. However, we cannot just be dependent on this. The Congress should have passed the energy independence bill so thast we can deal with unwanted circumstances should they happen.

News last night even stated that the price per liter could go down up to P4 per liter. Now, that would really be good news to all of us.

Nevertheless, it would be better if the Congress could find time to address pending legislation regarding biofuels so that we could deal with this issue with more ease.

Chairman Raul Concepcion said we swill be expecting more Oil roll backs this coming weeks.
He based his optimism on the recent decision of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Vienna to continue producing oil at current levels even though demand is slowing and inventories are building up due to sharp rise in prices which peaked at $77.03 per barrel.

This is a big relief to of us consumers, there qould be no Fare hike....
