What can you say about too much 'Pinoy Pride'?

er, actually i feel the same way! uggggh! especially sa pinaka recent na askals thing. OMG! a lot of people don't actually care for that, then all of a sudden, boooom! they love the askals and the sport! I am proud of Pinoys winning this and that actually, but I don't take it to the next level naman na OA ra kaau. And TS you are so right bout the racist part. I remembered watching the pacquiao-clottey fight last time and this guy was talking about how ugly and how clottey looks like a monkey and how dark clottey is.. like duh!! pag tanaw ko sa nawong sa guy k sos ngit2x pod, unya pangit pa jud sa tanan. hay nlng. why can't we just watch a fight and root for our team and not cuss the other team?

Mao lagi. Look, I never denied your point in saying we are all in a shitty situation right now. I am living that situation every freaking day. All your post above is doing is shoving that into our faces.

Are you saying those comments represent the entire 99 million people living in this country? Every nation has their share of douche bags and it's just sad that some of them have internet access and make comments that embarrass us.

We understand where both of you are coming from but, come on, this is the internet. You can't take anything written in here seriously. Not on Wikipedia, and especially not on some YouTube comment. For all we know basin mga Afrikans ang ni-post adto to make us look bad. In this day and age, even an 8 year old can post a dark, grainy video and title it "the ongkal-blackjellybean27 scandal". Does that mean the video is real?

This is just a discussion, OK? Let's be objective about it. It was stated in the original post that not all will like the original post, and here we are agreeing to disagree.

i never said i read those comments on the internet bro. i actually heard the guy, pinoy of course, saying those racist stuff. i was beside him noh and he was not the only who said that. practically everyone watching that fight that day kept on saying "negro" and "monkey" and all that. so with regard to maybe Afrikans posting those, i don't think so. what i'm trying to say. this may seem OT, but grrr that's not showing Pinoy Pride at all.

My point was you are putting a very small number of people and how they behaved in that single event as a representative of the entire Philippine population. That's just wrong.

Had you been in another location and watching the same fight, do you think you will still get the same impression? I don't think so.

Rant thread or not, the purpose of this thread, bay, is to know your different views of too much Pinoy pride hence the title. I thought it was worth mentioning to some Pinoys who might also have the same perception. So far, I was right. If you review the thread, most people seem to agree.

Sadly, wala na tay mabuhat ana. Its just the same as posting the countless threads here about the government, politics, our city, blablabla.

Its just as simple as saying I observed many Filipinos are too proud of the achievement of others while there is yet to be something we can be proud of as a nation. I am a proud Cebuano but that does not apply here because we are talking about Filipino pride. EDSA makes me proud to be a Filipino, but what else can we be proud of?

I hope someday there will still be something we can be proud of that can actually help improve our present situation.

dude, wow. noone said we are not proud of pacquiao, charice, etc. check the whole thread. what we noticed is how some people go over the top in showing their pride. they sound all arrogant and racist instead of looking proud.

it would have been better too if we show that kind of pride when there actually is something we have accomplished as a nation because its not like other countries dont have their share of singers or boxers.

i beg to disagree with you here bai, especially the part "..while there is YET to be something we can be proud of as a nation.." there has been moments in our country's history that WE CAN BE PROUD OF, People Power is a prime example of that. and also the fact that if you search online the Philippines is among the top 10 nation that has a level playing field for women, meaning equal rights, equal treatments among male and females (in my books that amounts to something) most likely di kaayo na nato ma-appreciate na fact kay we live it everyday and thus way pake. but compare it to other nation
