    Buenas Noches Konostedes..

Pwede ba mag enroll diri bisan dili ka graduate more in engineering field?
God Bless

Bai, naa ko kauban iya batch pag upgrade nya instrumentation kay RN..
At first naglisud daw kay dili pa kabalo mugamit ug tester but as the training goes on,nakabalo na daw,daku2 noon ug i cover up kay technical man ang instru but cope up lang sa training.

If instrumentation technicians lang, I think anyone with the proper training can do it. Installation, calibration, maintenance and replacement of instruments such as switches and transmitters, and of PLC and/or DCS cards, as well as troubleshooting.

Kana siguro pag design and program ug PLC and DCS, probably those with engineering background are preferred.

@ ejr0416 & Scott: Thanks sa mga inputs

Btw unsa ba ang style sa una pure lecture then actual na? mao lang kay wala man gyud ko idea or exposure pero mag catch up lang man na siguro kung naa na sa actual training no?

Also pagkahoman ang training, asa2x company ba pwede mag ojt/ mo apply para maka gain ta experience diha sa cebu? or pwede na ba makagawas dayon?

Wala koy eka share sa lecture and training ana if magpa enroll ka sa mga training centers, kay sa work rako na expose ana.

As basic idea lang, read or surf about instruments (sensors, transmitters and switches) for pressure, temperature, vibration, flow, and speed. Actually daghan pa kaayo na pero mao na ang mga common. Para lang naa kay background daan.

Hatag ko ug example sa work sa instrumentation techs. Under ni sa maintenance department. During normal operation, mag preventive maintenance schedule like inspection if naay physical defects, erroneous reading, and if walay problem, cleaning lang.. assuming if it can be done online, or for some, the instrument to be PM'd will be bypassed or change-overed by a standby instrument or machine.

Then during pod sa corrective maintenance, if an equipment or machine failed, the instrument tech might check and troubleshoot if any instrument failed (there are times, the problem is not related with C&I but with electrical or mechanical). If there is a suspected instrument failure, sometimes an actual data, such as temperature or pressure gage, will be compared with the instrument transmitters reading. For swift corrective actions, the defective one will be replaced with new. Afterwards, the instrument technicians will check if the defective instruments can be repaired or not, and it is done at the laboratory or shop.

There are times that the problem is on the PLC or DCS cards. The instrument tech will replace the cards if one or more are defective. During replacement, the new card might be configured, usually ang configurations karon kay user friendly na, if maanad ka, mura nalang nag configure ka sa imong cellphone or PC.

Basta, instrument technicians are not necessarily engineering graduates. What's important lang is that you are trained with sufficient background. And don't worry, an instrumentation engineer or supervisor will be there to guide and lead you along the way.

Thanks the info Scott Bernard, try ko pod mag search kong naa mga ebooks.

Dagko ba chance ani na maka-practice gyud ta pagkahoman sa study/ training as Intrumentation Tech? Sa case ninyo asa mo dayon nag apply pagkahoman sa training? Gusto ko unta i consider ani as career shift nako. Salamat

If you want Instrument Tech be sure you are technically skilled or have atleast a technical background on elex or automation but if you're not you have to cope up with it.

Instrumentation and Process Control field invloves everything in process elements or called it measuring transmitters. Could it be a flow, speed, temperature, level, pressure and even on chemical's acidity.
There are some(not all)Instru Engr or foreman were not technically equiped compared to some instru tech. Its the skills matter most coz Industries that invloves a process control are mostly high profitable company around the globe, could it be in an Oil and Gas Refinery, Water Treatment and Petrochemical and Power Plant.

@Roger, im done with the training and got an actual practice in some plants in cebu and dumaguete as an ojt. Loop check from field to DCS Room.
