Really? Economic statistics during the Marcos era does not suggest the same thing. And the policy of the Marcos government was just problematic. Cronyism and unfair competition against foreign firms? With that kind of development would anyone expect the Philippines to be? Like SINGAPORE? The Philippines at that time was just as worse as communist Russia.
If Marcos would really turn the Philippines like Singapore back then then they should have not controlled private firms and make them government run crony business. Capitalism demands competition and what Marcos did was the exact opposite, he made it so hard for foreign firms to compete with local companies that's why they had to get out of the country to invest somewhere. With the kind of business climate Marcos gave the Philippines not to mention extreme corruption, it's just plain IMPOSSIBLE to go to the ranks of Singapore.
