It's great to invest.....LOLz
I will share to you something guys about the right entry. Actually, nakamention na ko ana diri rather than doing cost averaging alone.
A friend of mine approached me last January, mga after Sinulog, kay moinvest siya sa MF (FAMI). I told him if he could wait a little longer kay padung ubos ang market ug ang NAVPS. But maybe excitement got the best of him tungod kay ubos na ang NAVPS, he went on. So wa koy mahimo, it's his decision after all.
Just last night, nagkita mi balik and he said that he asked me kung kanus-a ba daw mosaka balik ang NAVPS. I told him nga wa gyud koy idea but reports are saying that around March is the right time to buy. I even told him that plan pud nako nga moadd every month sa mutual fund instead of putting it all sa savings sa bank but wa ko nipursue because of the market conditions. Huwaton na lang nako kung mosaka na balik ang NAVPS then tingbun nako.
Lesson is, cost averaging is just one side of the coin, right timing is another. Why would you invest on something that is going down? Why not wait it to hit the bottom and get back up and invest? Don't get me wrong, I'm not against cost averaging but rather kung gusto ka mas dako imong gains and mas sulit imong investments, timing is very crucial. In his case, kung karon siya niinvest instead of last January, he should have gained 50+ shares more. A month made a big difference.

for me cost averaging is fine kay kasagaran sa investors dont even have the time to monitor the funds daily.
if apilan sad nila ug timing, mas dako jud ang gains.
but if wala sila time, cost averaging can still make them money in the long term.![]()

Hehe. Mao ni akong gipasabot sauna. A year ago (maybe two?) naay mga tawo dinhi sa forums nato na sige ug push na mupalit ug mutual funds ang mga tawo. Sakto man sila pero wa ko ganahi na ilang gipalabas na grabe ka safe ang mutual funds - to the point na murag gipalabas na na guaranteed imong returns. Tan-awa karon, if nipalit kag MF start of the year, on the average, nawala ang 10% sa imong kwarta. Normal raman ni, over the long run, makabawi ra siguro ka. Pero assuming nipalit ka January and kinahanglan nimo ang money now, aw alkansi gyud ka. I hope the people get this concept.
Now, tan-awa ang average 5-year return, naa ra dapit sa 15%. 15% over 5 years. Is that 3% per year? Mas maayo pa na imong gi time deposit. Very little ang risk, apsan pa nimo ang MF. Pero of course this may not always be the case. Research research lang para di ma mo-mo.
