A message from the management of a concern company to the employees. Received an hour after the incident:



Everyone,


Please be informed of the Initial Reports from the Philippine National Police. According to Supt. Catabas of the Mandaue PNP, the explosion was caused by an LPG tank which was ignited by a short circuited appliance from one of the establishment renting the Cortez Building in Basak Jagobiao Mandaue. The explosion came from Genes Laundry and the LPG tank was used for their laundry drier. One of the victims who survived the explosion claimed that he was the one who turned on the appliances which caused the explosion. He was thrown about 150 meters away but luckily survived. Other co-employees who were present for the opening were all injured and some died.


This statement was sent to us to clear reports that it was a bomb that exploded but nevertheless we are still doing precautionary measures in our building. Please help us explaining to our people that the inspection we are conducting before entering is for their own good. Thank you.

hehehe, no links, but if it was a bomb, then maybe it was better off reported as just an LPG mishap. Reporting it as a bomb will:

1.) glorify the terrorists

2.) scare off the ASEAN

3.) weaken our already weak economy

4.) scare our population



Also, there is the fact that bombing Gene's Laundry will not really be a great terrorist bragging point...


I say lets just be careful with out LPG tanks next time... and also be vigilant against terrorists...

i seriously think that the cause was truly the leaking LPG tanks. imagine this: according to the statement of the witnesses and event he owner of Gene's Laundry shop, the store was closed last sunday. it's possible that the leak may have started saturday night, after their employees left the establishment. on monday morning, as they turned on one of the driers, it automatically caused the explosion. so it's pretty much a picture of an entire room filled with the gas exploding instead of imagining a single LPG tank. most of the laundromats in cebu use LPG tanks instead of electricity alone for their driers because of lower maintenance cost.

mao ra pod siguro na ang reason why grabe kaayo ang effect sa blast. i think it's silly to say that it was a terrorist attack. ka bogo pod nila noh kung laundry shop ila gamiton pang hadlok sa mga tao. gamay ra baya'ng tao mu avail ug services ana'ng mga laundromats. if you think like a terrorist, then you'd probably bomb a mall packed with thousands of people than try to send a "message" by attacking laundromats.

kadtong gahapon, abi gani nako history repeats itself just like sept 11 bombing in world trade center. bitaw seriously, that was a catastrophe in cebu. hagsa gud ang building. maayu gani LPG toh. Kung bomba to, patay ta wagtang ang Asean Summit.
