how do you set GAIN properly?

I'm not sure if I'm posting this on the right place, but I got a question.

How do you set your GAIN on you amp properly.

lets say:
-HU with RCA out
-4 ch amp
-for ch 1 and 2, input will be coming from high output (not from the RCA from the back of the HU)
-for ch 3 and 4, input will be from the RCA (low output)
-ch 1 and 2 will be set to HPF
-ch 3 and 4 will be set to LPF (65 Hz) bridged for 8" sub

i'll make it as simple as possible. hehehehehe.
1.) check the maximum volume of your headunit. (ex. 50)
2.) set it to 75 to 80% lets say 40 or 42.
3.) slowly raise you gain on your amp until you hear clipping or distortion coming out of your speakers.
4.) lower the level a bit to the point that everything sounds ok to you. (its a matter of preference)
5.) do the same with the gain level of your subs.
6.) dont forget to check if the level of your subwoofer is set to zero on your headunit so that in low volumes you can still raise the volume of your subwoofer if you feel that it is not enough.

-ch 3 and 4 will be set to LPF (65 Hz) bridged for 8" sub <--- you can try setting it at 80hz. 65hz is too low for an 8inch sub. well it depends also if you have a strong midbass upfront then you can have your subwoofer play low notes that your midbass cannot reproduce.

its all trial and error. if you think that everything sounds good for you then be happy. everyone has different tastes in music and tuning. so there is no right or wrong.

dont do the box at 80hz. the 80hz should be set at the crossover of the amp or the crossover of your headunit. 80hz is too high for your box. what subs are you using and what amp? how many cuft is your box for the 8" sub? tune the box around 38hz.

Mga boss, newbie palang ko sa audio setup, nka acquire ko ug 2nd hand na ae101 na nka sound setup na, patabang lang unta ko kay usahay naa ray mukalit ug tingog sa mga speakers na mura ug ga-dalugdog unya karon kay dili najud muguwas ang tingog sa kanta sa speakers puro nalang murag gadalugdog, unsa kahay problema ani?
